SantaThing 2025: Donations

We here at LibraryThing are so pleased to be kicking off the 2025 SantaThing Donation Thread!

Quick reminder: members will only be eligible for SantaThing donations if they meet the following criteria:

- They have been a member for at least two months

- They have at least 50 books cataloged in their account.*

*Suggestion: If you need to beef up your catalog, try adding books to your wishlist or books you have read but do not own. As long as the overall count is over 50 then you are good to go! Should someone in this situation request a donation, I will contact them directly to encourage them to add additional books to their catalog first.

Please feel free to ask if you are in need of a donation! Or if you'd like to become a secret santa and give an anonymous donation please feel free to message me directly.

It's been a tough year in many ways. I'd like to ask for a book donation for myself this year.

Not sure if its too late but id love to be put on the list for donations

I don't get my income until 2 days after entries close. Could I be on the donation list, please?

This has been a horrible couple of years. I didn't even get to do it last year because of the level of terrible. In the past, I've been able to pay on my own and donate occasionally, but I am currently in no position to afford books when I can't afford food. After applying for over 500 jobs, not knowing where I'm going for Christmas, not being able to afford presents, and my late daughter's death and burial right before Christmas, SantaThing is the only thing that cheers me up in the season.

So that's the long version of asking if I could have a donation, please.

(No one ever said I was good at brevity.)

We're still looking for more donations if anyone is feeling generous this holiday season! LibraryThing has contributed 4 entries so far, and I anticipate we'll add a few more.

I love participating in Santa Thing. I especially love opening I surprise package of books. I lost my job 10/15/25. My income continues to be in Flux. Therefore, I either need to use savings or receive donation or gift from someone to participate this year.

Could I be added to this, if there is some left?

I had asked for a donation on my behalf and received a lovely one; thank you so much. My late daughter (from DIPG brain cancer) signed up for it every year from babyhood, and some of my happiest memories of her are the books she received that she loved. My surviving daughter has been part of it since she was born. Sometimes I've asked for donations, sometimes I've paid for it myself, and in one wonderful case, I've been able to donate to someone in need.

So, because of my terrible couple of years (which I extrapolated on from my own account, sahra, where I have my own library), I forgot to ask for her. This username, sushiguineapig, is for her own library.

If there are no more donations available, I understand. If there are, could you please send it to sahra's email (also the picking)? I would prefer this be a surprise for her, given my inability to actually buy her other presents due to being low-income and having all of the money I have going to food. If it has to go to her username, I'll just make sure I catch it in her email or messages before she sees it.

Again, I understand it might just be too late now, and I respect that. This whole thread every year reminds me that there is actually good in the world, and if she can't have a donation, it will still be a beautiful thing how people help each other here. Please let me know if this is possible. Thank you so much for all you do, LibraryThing.
