JAN 2026 "Maurice" by E. M. Forster

A little story to go along with our first monthly group read -
The inspiration for this group comes from Greg, a long time user over on Good Reads (GR) who we would like to make welcome over here on the Thing (LT). Greg wondered out loud if we could discuss books on LT; the answer of course is yes! Our friend @DebiCates noticed Greg had Forster's Maurice on his TBR list as did she, and I also just happened to have it on my bedside table gathering dust. In order to remove said dust, this group was created.

We hope you will join us this month, stay awhile and enjoy your time here.
Happy reading!

>1 TonjaE: I just realized maybe I should not try to nab April as well since I'm part of the trio who by magic happened to agree so easily on a book that desperately needs dusting and reading, aka January's Maurice read.

I'll wait. If there is a month's slot that need filling, I'll tackle the torture of choosing from that ol' TBR. Otherwise, I'm going to enjoy the heck out of all the soon to come 2026 surprises.

>2 DebiCates: LOL. Nonsense, April is yours already until you say you've changed your mind.

>3 TonjaE: LOL oh my. I've made it a muddle, haven't I? I'll follow your instructions. If I'm on for April, I'll be super glad to do it.

>7 sbkl: Hi Stacey, good on you. Keep at it. It will become clear how LT works. It takes some time. I know. I was where you are in August. Now I'm no expert now but I can make sense of the things I want to participate in and enjoy.

We have set up sections for each part of Maurice in order to share your on-going thoughts and to accommodate reading at your own pace without fear of spoilers.

Hello Tonja, Debi, and all! I have joined LibraryThing as well as this group. I am very much a newbie on this site, but I'm glad to be here, and I have my copy of Maurice ready!

>13 GregM3: Welcome Greg! Right on cue, too. I'm looking forward to this group read of Maurice. Maybe you'll even join us for some other titles we have scheduled.

We all were newbies at some point (and some of us remain feeling newbie-ish). Coming from GR LT can be both frustrating and rewarding--both sensations because it has more features and is more complex.

If there is anything you want help with there are lots of resources, including you can always DM me. I enjoy figuring things out and am known at my work for my "step by step" instructions.
