Does anyone else feel like they "write" without being an author? I decided to call it worldbuilding because that's basically what it is. Except I'm not very good (at all) at sustained plotlines, so what I end up with is an urban fantasy-esque world populated by personalities. I'll read books to give myself ideas, and since I don't publish or post my stuff, I'm completely free to copy :P But I wonder if I'm not the only one who does this. Purely statistically, it can't just be me, right?

'Author' to me implies published, whereas anyone can be a writer by just setting words to page.
Have you considered applying your work to role-playing? It sounds ideally fitted.

This would be a good topic to post in the Writer's Brag and Rag Bag group: https://www.librarything.com/ngroups/3468/Writers-Brag-and-Rag-Bag

>2 Cecrow: I'm not sure. It sounds fun, but I'd have to DM it, and I'm not the best at improvising. Besides, my stuff leans more toward interpersonal drama and intrigue than fighting things. But maybe if I dedicated a separate world to it, it could work? And intrigue is somewhat workable as roleplay anyway.

...Anyone willing to swap notes in the meantime?

You are specifically asking for something that is not books in a group called Book Talk, the description of which starts with “Catch-all for book-related conversations.”.
And if you want another tip - maybe develop your reading skills more.

>7 AnnieMod: Alright? No need to be snide. I mean, I joined literally yesterday, I'm not out to wreak havoc or anything.
