Tēnā koutou katoa (Greetings everyone)
I'm here because I am attempting to covert our historical society's library collection (about 600 works) from filing by author name to Dewey. My academic librarian wife directed me here to stem the flow of questions :-)
Many of the books I'm adding are the first copy to appear on LT, being self-published or limited edition works. In most cases the authors have been dutiful and applied for an IBSN and sent their two copies to the National Library of New Zealand.
However, when I add these to LT, they seem to end up without a classification section even when the National Library record shows a call number.
Is there a way I can add a classification section to the LT record?

You can edit your entry, adding Dewey, LoC, or your own system.

You should switch your source to library ones and use Amazon only when those do not have it. If you haven't already, add the NZ National Library and perhaps some other NZ sources. (On Add Book page towards the bottom there is a link to add sources, open it go to 'all sources' than pick New Zealand)

>3 SandraArdnas: That raises the question of whether OP is reporting an issue with records from the NZ National Library, or just records added from elsewhere.

>3 SandraArdnas: Yes. Amazon entries for older books tend to very poor, and certainly will not include classification data.

>4 davidgn: The few I checked were from Amazon, hence my suggestion. But I haven't looked into stats if it's all of them, so indeed
