I see this topic has come up before, but not for many years.
Today while looking up some information in an old reading thread, I came across a reference to one of my reviews - the person indicated they appreciated my review of The Witch King. This was in 2024. Today when I went to look at the review - there was no review. I must have reviewed it for them to make that comment, but the review was blank.
Today, I added some of my comments from my reading journal for a review, but I know that wasn't my original review, and 2024 was before the edit history and before I started using the 'attach review' feature, so I have no idea what the original review said.
Checking my library export today, I see some other books with no reviews, which isn't unexpected. Some it is likely I entered the book meaning to get to a review later, so there is no review, but for a few, I'd say that's unlikely. There are also books I have entered but NOT reviewed, because I haven't read them or don't recall enough to give a review. But for a good number of the books with missing reviews, I'm very familiar with the book and likely entered a review.
Any thoughts on what might have happened to the reviews?

>1 Karlstar: Maybe they were referring to the review in your post here? https://www.librarything.com/topic/362546#8595922

You also have a review on the Martha Wells Witch King book.

>2 Charon07: That is actually the way it reads, but I always write a review with the book, if i haven't already, when I do my writeup in my reading thread, which is longer and more of a discussion, not purely a review, as it may include spoilers. I either do a review when I enter the book or when I finish it.
>3 Aquila: Yes, that's the review I added with text from my reading thread comments, just yesterday.

My "missing" reviews typically turn out to have been parked in the Private Comments or Comments fields. But that has more to do with my review composition process, and I wouldn't expect it to happen for other users. I'm not gonna lie; this thread worries me: My #1 use of LT these days is as a home for my reviews, which help my aging brain to remember and understand my superabundance of past reading.

>1 Karlstar: If you could give some examples of ones you think are still missing, I can check in the database to see if they were deleted somehow. I can't check the one you already mentioned since you added a new review to it, so I don't know if there was one there before that.

>6 knerd.knitter: Thanks! Here are a couple likely examples.

I do realize that this is likely user error.

>7 Karlstar: Neither of those show as having a deleted review. I actually see only 16 deleted reviews for you, which doesn't seem like a huge number.

>8 knerd.knitter: Not a huge number at all, but I'm surprised there are that many. Thanks for looking into it. This will just have to go down as a weird one-off.
