Off-LT spam from Early Reviewers author

I've been tagged on Twitter by an author from Early Reviewers. I'm not a member of Early Reviewers and have no interest in the kind of books this person writes.

Is spamming users off-LT contrary to LT's Terms of Service?

ER authors cannot use contact information received via that program for other purposes.

However, I don't see how LT could restrict an ER author, or any other LT member, from connecting with members with information gleaned from other sources.

I note that you have a link to your Twitter account (as well as other social media accounts) on your LT profile. Please don't expect LT to police how people interact with you on sites to which you have to give them access.

Where's the expectation? All I did was ask a question. Please don't misrepresent what I said.

>1 DuncanHill:

LT's Terms of Service don't govern how anyone uses Twitter.

The Early Reviewer program does restrict the use of ER requester information. But it doesn't seem like you've established that an abuse of that data took place in this case.

>1 DuncanHill: If this author used your personal contact information—either email or mailing address—that was obtained through the Early Reviewers program to contact you, that would absolutely be a violation of our terms of service. But if they interact with you off-site, independent of any connection on LibraryThing (it doesn't sound like there is one, if you haven't requested or read their books), then that would be beyond the scope of our TOS.

>5 AbigailAdams26: We've never had any interaction anywhere before. They've either used information from my profile on LT, or scraped people who have interacted with LT on Twitter.

But if you say that's not a violation then it isn't. I*'ve reported their spam on Twitter (they did include LT in the accounts they were spamming) and left them a message here asking them never to contact me again in any way.

As what they have done is apparently not against the ToS I won't name them publicly, but I will say I find the tenor of the material they are spamming to be abhorrent.
