Hello!
Looking for title/author of romantic suspense novel featuring a female defense attorney and a male detective. It is an enemies-to-lovers romance. It is not a courtroom drama.
At the beginning of the book, the defense attorney and her client are shot outside the courtroom before a hearing: the detective protects the attorney and helps her get to the paramedics.
The main characters realize they have both been targeted and end up in protective custody along with his mother and his young son (single dad: his mother was babysitting.)
Eventually the attorney and detective leave so they can find the perpetrator.
The assistant district attorney is the villain. The two main characters fall in love.
This is a fairly new book (published in last ten years - probably last five.) I read it as an e-book.
