LibraryThing Appreciation Post

I just wanted to take a moment to express how much I appreciate this website. It is one of the very rare and precious places left on the internet where I feel I can visit without being inundated with ads or ragebait or AI-generated slop. I know the people behind LibraryThing are real humans, that they care about this site and their users, and that there is a community here who deeply cares about human knowledge and creativity. I am thankful for LibraryThing and its community, and I can hardly believe that it is still completely free for me to use. Thank you.

So glad I found LibraryThing in 2007. It's the first site I check each morning. It has given me book suggestions and a community. I especially like that the staff is so available if I encounter problems. Many thanks to Tim et al. for everything they do.

I would also express my gratitude. I know a lot of us complain a lot, but it's whining with appreciation, or we wouldn't be here. :-)

Agree 100%. And with each passing day it just becomes more of a wonder as it develops further in the direction most of us envisaged the internet would be, technology that actually empowers and gathers people all over the world with some common interests in a genuine online community. Meanwhile, the rest is increasingly becoming more and more of a hell-scape. Thank you Tim and the rest of the team for this bookish oasis.

I agree with everyone. You express perfectly my own feelings about my favourite go to place on the internet. Thank you Tim and LT team for everything you do.

I fully agree with the AI slop. Too many sites I browse around and find some horrible AI image. It's really annoying.

What they all said. When I became active on LT after having been lurking for years, my wife said "You've found your tribe." I had indeed.

It's the only site that ALWAYS has a tab open in my browser (Chrome) at all times. >2 Taphophile13: expresses my feelings about LT!

I agree with all of you! One of the benefits that I love is getting reviews of the books. I always worry that reviews on Amazon might be biased, so I always look here first.

The resiliency of this site is remarkable. I love the desktop-first, info-rich, classic UI, too. I check out other book sites and they're made for phones.

LibraryThing is the only site I visit every day. The LT staff doesn’t get enough love for maintaining and building this place. ❤️
