Add a book doesn't work from the book's page

I'm sure this has been answered before but I couldn't find it in the wiki or in talk (which is likely me).

I have had more than one book that some other person has carefully added to Library Thing that does not appear when I use the https://www.librarything.com/addbooks page nor does the "Add" button work on the the work's page. They are often spiral bound recipe collections.
This is a typical example.

Is there some way to add the book's information without retyping everything? Someone's done a very good job on this book and I'm not keen on repeating done work.

In the same vein, if you are aware of where I can find the answer, I would appreciate the link.

>1 con_girl: In the column on the right side of the book page, click on one of the option under the words "Find It". This will give you several options. Sometimes I have to go further in order to get the version I want (such as an ebook) but that is always a good start.

>2 krazy4katz: I don't understand, that just seems to link to various websites for acquiring the book, not for copying the information provided by another Librarything User or providing a way to import the information?

Sorry! I was misunderstanding what you were asking. I agree that Add should work and it does for me for other books but not for the one you mention in your original post.

Unfortunately in cases like this, LibraryThing doesn't allow for using LT itself as a data source for adding books. Theoretically, this prevents user-added errors from profligating, though we know libraries and (especially!) Amazon can have errors, too.

If you're not able to get the book added through the green button or the Add Books page, you can double check the Editions to see if anyone did successfully add it from a library.

The "note" column will say Manual Add if that's how it was entered. In the example you gave, all the current copies are Manual Add. The others are 0-copy, which means they were deleted or the title/author/ISBN was modified - possibly a different book was added and modified to be this one, then modified again or deleted.

There have been user scripts (for the Tamper Monkey browser add-on) that would copy a book's details into the manual add form for you, but I don't think it would pick up the physical description fields.

This topic is where the scripts have been shared and discussed, but it looks like the most recent version isn't working right now due to changes on the LT side.
