Hi all,

I'm desperate to read a book that will be deep and inspirational, something that will really make me look at life differently.

Been going through a bit of a rough time and really just want to read something to kick start the recovery!

Thanks for any input. =)

A

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - it's a short and sweet little book, but when you get to the end it shows you something fundamental about life and happiness.

Fishwhistle or Chicago Days, Hoboken Nights both by Daniel Pinkwater are highly recommended. These are short essays he originally wrote and read for National Public Radio's All Things Considered. Your might also visit his website (http://www.pinkwater.com/) and listen to his podcasts. You will laugh.

You might look into a Richard Bach book - you could find a copy of Jonathan Livingston Seagull or one of his other books at many thrift stores these days, since they were huge sellers when they came out in the 70's. These are somewhat in the vein of previously mentioned The Alchemist. Another book I'd recommend is Taming Your Gremlin (Revised Edition) by Richard David Carson. This is more of a self-help book, but it's lighthearted while still being actually useful. Lastly, I'd suggest going back to the books you loved as a child. Sometimes reconnecting with them can get a person back on track. Good luck!
