I have a couple of Friedman's books, including The World is Flat, but I have to confess I haven't read it completely through. I have this bad habit of starting way too many books at once, then skipping around to read a chapter here and a chapter there. I don't agree with everything Friedman says, but he always has something thought-provoking to say.

Friedman was also on "Charlie Rose" last night. I have mixed feelings about him, but agree completely when he notes that the U.S. was riding a wave of worldwide goodwill between 9/11 and the invasion of Iraq, and that that goodwill, that enormous potential, was completely and utterly squandered by the Bush Administration.
