certainly a good idea. if someone else would like to organise a meeting to discuss the possabilities of future action? I can probably start thinking about it sometime next week.

I'll think about it later...

16lefty33
Oct 19, 2008, 3:53 pm

I was going to post something, but I have ... some, uh ... other stuff -- really important -- to get to first. Really, I just can't spare the time right now. I would explain, but I have to go. People are waiting on me. Don't ask, I'll just come back later to explain. I might be gone a while, so don't expect me back soon. There is so much going on right now. I think the cat just caught a fly Karate Kid style. Oh, no, he missed. As you can see, I'm quite busy. I don't know when I'll find the time to be back here. The cat is going in for a second try. All these other things -- I don't have the time to tell you what -- have me going, going, going....

17ChelseaB-ley
Oct 19, 2008, 4:40 pm

Maybe I can unite later. I'm doing stuff. And it's important. Very important. Of course it is.

Didn't we already do this?

21foggidawn
Oct 20, 2008, 3:46 pm

It's not due until November 10th! I think I'll check and see what's happening on LibraryThing.

(No kidding, that's the thought that just went through my head.)

Gee foggi. That's the same thing I was thinking about report cards. I don't need them until tomorrow morning.

Hey! lets.....nah never mind

28Kerian
Oct 21, 2008, 4:57 pm

It's not that important. There are more important priorities. I think I'm going to read for a little while, but I'll get to it right after that. Or maybe right after this one other thing that has to be done first. Will anyone notice if I read past the time I was going to stop? Maybe I'll read a little longer. Ten more minutes. *an hour passes* I'v already waited this long so I'm just going to read a little longer. I still have time. *goes back to her book*

I dunno, I might be doing something that week.

Or not.

You know, whatever.

35MsDonna
Nov 8, 2008, 5:24 pm

Speaking of procrastinators - I'm having fun watching Mr A fuss about the house instead of getting ready to go to lectures on a Sunday.

36catbastet
Nov 8, 2008, 5:25 pm

He has to go somewhere to get lectured?

37MsDonna
Nov 8, 2008, 5:26 pm

Yeah that always surprises me to. I'm sure I could lecture him at home but I'm a bit of a lazy wife in that respect.

38jugglingpaynes
Nov 8, 2008, 5:38 pm

I tried lecturing. I find "The Look" is much more effective.

And then I can rest my voice.

39MsDonna
Nov 8, 2008, 5:41 pm

I like doing the look, but you need to get the attention of the person first so the effect can be lost if you've used the voice first.

Nov 15, 2008, 1:40 am

But then they would give my promotion to someone else!

Thank you, A_R! It's a nice thought. I have three sisters. I can probably get one to help me. I'm bad at asking people for help is all.

50Always_Reading
Nov 16, 2008, 1:21 am

Huh, when it comes to me asking my sisters for some help, it usually sounds something like,
"Hey, doing anything? Great! Help me do this now thanks." The running joke in our family is that the magic word isn't "please", it's "now".

"Get the milk?"
"What's the magic word?"
"NOW!"

We get along great though!

This has been quite the evening of procrastination. I procrastinated about packing. Now I should be getting mapquest directions to the airport, but I am here. And the only reason I haven't gotten directions to the airport yet is -- you guessed it -- I've been procrastinating! Actually, I'm procrastinating on going to bed, because I know I'll have a hard time getting to sleep, and a hard time waking up (an hour and a half earlier than I usually do).

Let's see, I have a paper due for English class tomorrow night, and I just re-read my rough draft thesis statement from two weeks ago, today. About an hour ago, I realized that I hadn't seen the slip of paper with the assignment on it in a while... And since a rough draft was due last week, but she canceled and told us to just bring the finished product in tomorrow, I didn't think it would go over well to e-mail her with 25 hours to go and ask her to remind me what it was.

Thankfully, I found it about half an hour ago. Guess what I'm doing now? And no, it doesn't rhyme with smiting thy taper...

Ah that reminds me, Mr A starts back at school soon. I'll have to dust off my arsenal of questions:

Are you doing it?
You know you have to do it eventually.
So how many points do you lose for each day it is late?
You're not on LT are you?
For gods sake just do it already.
When is it due?
Why don't you do it now so you're not up all night, the night before it is due?

130MrAndrew
Feb 5, 2009, 6:44 am

Just about to start.
There's plenty of time.
Only half a point.
Of course not. *hides screen*

LOL that actually sounds like me and my husband as I nag him to do his school work also. 8) The only other thing I have in my nag bag is:
"Well, honey, if you could have swallowed your stupid male pride and went to school full time like I told you too when I was working you wouldn't be working this hard! But noooooooo you couldn't let your wife be the bread winner! Oh no no no".
heheheheh I usually do this when he hadn't done his school work when he was supposed to and then is taking up 'family time' to do it. 8)

Feb 26, 2009, 4:54 pm

I need to go curtain shopping. My window is small in length but very wide. I've no idea how I'm supposed to find something for it. Really I've been thinking if I should just pick out some material and make them myself. If only I'd get to a fabric shop.

144lefty33
Mar 1, 2009, 2:57 pm

K, you could buy something that is wide enough and then hem them to the correct length. At least that way you would save yourself from having to make them completely. And you won't have to make a special trip to find fabric. Of course, then you have to get around to hemming hem. Eventually. ;)

#144 lefty:
Very true! That's my mother's suggestion as well. To pick curtains out even, though! My room is the most horrible shade of pink. It is called queen pink. I'm afraid not much can go with it except white. I grew up with all white furniture and deemed that nothing would be white ever again.

Do you have any color suggestions? Maybe a print would be okay?

And yes, btw, that is the one who basks in my window each day and the whole cause for me to search for curtains. She knocks the blinds, which are broken, off the windowsill daily. In measuring my window just now I have found she knocked the tv's rabbit ears down today.

Something I am procrastinating on: Putting the gold metal strip back on my large bookcase. Tumble knocked it down from the top of it a few days ago.

149lefty33
Mar 2, 2009, 11:06 pm

I would look for a sage green or medium heather blue background (heather = grey added, kind of gives a "smokey" look to the color) that perhaps has small amounts of a similar pink. Of course it's good to have the pink match as closely as possible. And that will pretty much limit you to floral patterns most likely. If you are trying to tone down the pink as much as possible, skip the matching pink and just go with a green or blue. Is painting the room out of the question?

150Kerian
Mar 2, 2009, 11:36 pm

Thank you, lefty! I've just used google to get different tones of each of those shades on a paper to bring with me while looking for curtains. I needed to bring a picture of the room's hideous color with me anyways. I really like the medium heather blue! I hadn't thought I could use any blues. It's one of my two favorite colors, though I don't have a favorite shade of it.

Yes, painting is pretty much out of the question. I would love to paint it a pastel, perhaps a shade of lavender. Someday in another house.

Came across this a while ago and meant to get to re-reading enough of this thread to remember to post it. IN a very unthreadlike manner I have actually done so - but only in order to avoid doing some proper 'work'

"Robert Benchley explained this phenomenon very well in about 1930 in an essay called "How to Get Things Done" where he proposes the following key psychological principal: "Anyone can do any amount of work , providing it isn't the work he is supposed to be doing at the time."

I'm still deciding. I like to look around before buying things and would like to go to more places to browse. It's just difficult because I don't drive and there isn't much in my city. One of my sisters and I may go curtain shopping next weekend after I help her move, though. I think she will be stuck with white curtains since her room is yellow...Though now that I think of it...So is suge's, and she has lovely green drapes that look quite nice. *ponders*

Mar 21, 2009, 9:12 am

#160 K, I am horrible at making decisions. Yesterday I was out looking for light fixtures and took so long choosing the worker in that section finally asked if I'd just like to take a catalog. I did. Still haven't chosen one.

I was putting off doing alterations yesterday so instead I put in a new kitchen faucet, replaced a leaky water-in line in a toilet, drew up plans for the compost bin I'm going to build, and shortened our bar stools (they were just a little too tall for the height of our counter). And thus I have proved r_f's quote to be true.

I've been procrastinating on finishing Persuasion. I was helping others all day, though, so that makes it okay, right? I did some flight research for my grandparents, helped a sister with some of her moving, and ran around shopping with my mother who has tennis elbow so she wouldn't lift anything. Persuasion is taking longer and longer to read.

You know what I should really be doing? I should be out shopping for something to wear to this wedding thing I have to go too. So procrastinating putting new break pads on the Corolla turned out to be a good decision on my part! The car was written off as totaled so I'd hate to have put on new breaks just to have it smashed a week later. See? Procrastinating is good!

To procrastinate a little more I'm going to finish my lesson plans for the next 3 weeks, write my Monday News, get my Word Study words ready for the next 2 weeks, update my bus checklist, work on a school flyer for a new recycling program we are starting, and send my weekly email to my classroom parents. See. Procrastinating can be productive.

I've been procrastinating on some job-hunt-related chores all day. I have told myself that I can't read or watch a movie until I get those things done . . . but somehow, I seem to still keep finding other stuff to do. So far, I have procrastinated by cleaning out my medicine cabinet (throwing away anything that was past its expiration date), emptying all of the trash cans around the house, and spending a lot of time reading LT, blogs, and email (and checking and re-checking the same for new posts, etc.). It would take me less than half an hour to do the stuff I am procrastinating on, but I am having an unmotivated sort of day.

How is that a bad thing, foggi? Sounds like you accomplished a lot!
Maybe you could trick your procrastinating self. Start working on writing that great novel that is destined to be a best seller. Maybe you'll procrastinate yourself into job hunting. If not, you still have that great novel to fall back on! ;o)

Hah! Maybe that would work, JP!

I did one of the job-hunting tasks, so now I just have one more to finish today. Meanwhile, I'm procrastinating by putting away the last of the Christmas stuff. This includes taking the lights off the very dead Christmas tree (ouch! ouch!) and hauling it out to the curb (owwww!). I have never left this task this late before.
