I was wondering if people had good suggestions for books (fiction or non-fiction) that are set in New England. I'm looking for Boston and Maine in particular, but anywhere in N.E would be great - thanks!

I'm really open to any and all suggestions, although I am also looking for a really great non-fiction book about the Revolutionary War history of Boston.

I really love reading books about or set in the places I am in, and currently I'm living in Boston.

How about Zodiac byNeal Stephenson? It describes itself as an eco-thriller - it's about an eco-activist trying to stop Bad People polluting Boston harbour, among other things. The geography of Boston and its waterways is pretty central to some of it. And imho it's a cracking read!

Most of what Dennis Lehane writes is set in Boston.

The Midwifes Tale is great non-fiction set in Maine but starting off in Boston. It is a great book that looks at the social history of the time.

The Lace Reader takes place in Salem.

Dennis Lehane writes books that take place in the Boston area..
they are thrillers/ crime books.

A Passion Most Pure (Daughters of Boston, Book 1) which I have not read, but I am trying to give some variety :)
