The YouTube video The Obama Stutter (starts with Bill O'Reilly interview) reveals Obama's speech difficulties.

What do you think is the number one reason Obama uses a teleprompter so frequently? To control his speech impediment? To control the content of his speech? Or some other reason?

He used a teleprompter to deliver his opening remarks. He answered the questions without one. My guess is he used it simply to insure he said what he intended to say.

Why in the name of God would you pay any attention to anything Bill O'Reilly, who can't find his ass without a teleprompter, has to say?

Gosh, it's so nice to listen to a president that you don't have to decode and answers the questions asked.

Does Obama use a teleprompter more than any other president? Not being facetious, I really have no idea what any of them—other than Jed Bartlet, that is—do.

All President's since Reagan, at least, have used teleprompters. What do you think those clear screens on either side of the podium are?

We've just had eight years of a guy who couldn't string two words together and make sense even when reading from a teleprompter. Now you want to pick on someone who might stutter a bit because he has multiple options and must mentally select the correct one from an internal list?

If you have any question why the Republicans are in the Land of the Lost, maybe you don't have to look any further than this kind of nonsense.

The teleprompter aspect does not worry me so much as Obama's love for torture, war, and violating civil liberties. In many ways, Obama is worse than Bush. That's quite spectacular when you consider that Obama has not been in office for more than a couple of months.

I think Obama would use the teleprompter a lot less frequently if he did not have a speech impediment. (Of course the YouTube video makes his stutter appear worse than it actually is.)

I don't think he should be criticized for finding a way to make himself sound more fluent. If he had a limp and he was using a cane he wouldn't be laughed at. At least I hope not.

I see nothing objectionable in using a teleprompter. It's just reading a prepared speech.

Nor do I think Obama has a speech impediment. When a person speaks on the record as much as a President or Presidential candidate does, a lot of this sort of thing will happen.

Sadly, you will rarely (if ever?) hear a liberal defend a Republican the way I just defended a Democrat. Liberals are simply too full of hate, so they grasp at any excuse to insult someone they disagree with.

Yes, carny, we have learned well over the last sixteen years how to hate. We've studied at knee of the masters.

I will be more than happy to defend a wronged Republican if I ever see such a thing.

5: Umm, the clear screens are shields placed by the Secret Service.

That's funny; I always thought they were teleprompters too.

Storm: There is a difference between what you're talking about and the tele-prompters though. If it's a single pane at chest level angled up towards the president that's definitely a teleprompter. The security barriers are huge and generally not used at the state of the union, etc.
