That "_F" word puzzles me. Is there an S?

160rolandperkins
Jul 29, 2009, 2:35 pm

Sorry, I missed the 2 Ds

Why should the _F word puzzle; there are 2 very common ones?

Just seeing the R , U requests now. 2 Rs; a U

Iʻm not getting enough space (length) on the screen, if I do it as a re-write (pencil icon): do I have to write the whole thing every time?

161Jim53
Jul 29, 2009, 2:39 pm

I suspect the F word is a puzzler because the last picture of the words contains Os and Is but neither in front of the F. If you copy and paste the text from its previous appearance, the page will make room for it and give you a scroll bar on the entry field.

Are you sure that there is not a third blank letter in the last word for the G or the U?

164rolandperkins
Edited: Jul 29, 2009, 3:38 pm

Yes, the last word was left tne letter short;

I might as well give it: R O D R I G U E Z; besides the Z, the only "hard" letter are a V and an X; one each; Iʻm giving them unasked, you fit them in.

165rolandperkins
Jul 29, 2009, 3:12 pm

"Copying" is highlighting the whole thing (?). I donʻt see anything on this keypboard for "pasting". (Used to try to do that on another keyboard--usually without success; the highlighting wouldnʻs survive the rest of the operation.

166Jim53
Jul 29, 2009, 3:47 pm

If you're using Windows, you can highlight the whole thing and press Ctrl-C; this copies the highlighted content to the system clipboard. Then put the cursor in the target location and press Ctrl-V; this pastes the contents of the clipboard to the location of the cursor.

PS I'm guessing the V goes between the I and the E; perhaps "lives" or maybe "wives"?

167rolandperkins
Jul 29, 2009, 3:55 pm

Yes the V is between the I and the E: L I V E S

Still canʻt get it onto the screen through copy-paste, but thanks for the advice. For some reason, Iʻm now being denied the changes through the pencil icon, too(!?)

How do I retain CONTROL-V when V is the letter Iʻm inserting?

168TheoClarke
Jul 29, 2009, 3:55 pm

And the X is the end of the penultimate word.

169TheoClarke
Jul 29, 2009, 3:57 pm

Hold the Ctrl and the V key down simultaneously like a piano chord.

Well, the third word has no EIOU, and "salacious" is too long anyway. I guess, in addition to Theo's X, you'd better show us all the As.

The Tall Man also fits and we have had such a plethora of Australian works recently. But Jennifer's suggestion seems more likely.
