I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of some GOOD books with a supernatural/vampire/etc. plot.
Thanks!

I liked the first book in the Vampire Academy series. Blue Bloods is also pretty good. I didn't care for the House of Night series, but a lot of people really like them. And the Sookie Stackhouse series (Dead Until Dark, etc.) is an adult series that is pretty well done. An adult standalone that is also really well written is Sunshine by Robin McKinley.
I don't particularly care for vampires, but I do love the goblins in The Hollow Kingdom trilogy. There's also a lot of good urban fantasy out there: Wicked Lovely, Tithe, Wondrous Strange, City of Bones. . . .
Any of that sound interesting?
(Edit: Ack! None of my touchstones showed up! Trying again. . . .)

ok so Dead Until Dark looks good. though now i'm just interested in recommendations of books that are absorbing, i want to read a really good book that's a page-turner, since i've kinda been in a slump not finding books that are super engaging...

Well, on the vampire side I like the 8th grade bites series by Heather Brewer, they don't seem like much at first but they sneak up on you and before you know it, the book is done.
for page turner (after glancing at your library): the hollow people, the haunting of alaizabel cray, the way of shadows, uglies or pretty much anything else by Scott Westerfeld is good

The next book on my tbr is The Night Watch which I've heard good things about. I'll get back to you once I've read it.
Interview with a Vampire is good, although I never read any of the other Anne Rice books.

the Sonja Blue series by Nancy A. Collins might be up your ally. A morbid Initiation the first in the Victorian Age Vampire trilogy by Phillippe R. Boulle is interesting. Starts in Victorian Age England and has a little stylistic nod to Dracula.

This one Anno Dracula by Kim Newman. I read it years ago and still remember it. Dracula marries Queen Victoria!!
