In a nutshell: the humourous post was tagged satire, but the cognoscenti considered it legitimate anyway. And Limbaugh repeated twice in his non-apology that his researcher was "scouring the internet" for sources. Now we know why right-wing whackos everywhere sound the same! They get all their information from Conservapedia & Co.
The reason I find this especially poignant is that I allowed myself to get dragged into another mindless, dead-horse-beating discussion on the PoliCon forum, and noted earlier today, with reference to "reliable" articles sourced from JihadWatch, or "substantial" "content" about Obama's "assault on Freedom of Speech", that the "forum alternately depresses me with its "content" and makes me laugh when someone replies to criticism. There is a glaring lack of fundamental reading and reasoning skills, and together with that, a hilarious inability to detect irony."
Talk about scientifically predictable results! Now will someone please reward my efforts and just buy me everything on my Wishlist already...

It's interesting that right-wingers got "Sokaled" on this "hates the Founders" bit. I've often wondered how The Onion stays in business, since much of what comes out of the mouths of conservative Republicans and poujadist talking heads makes suitable competition for that august publication.
At least Limbaugh is honest: the story doesn't have to be true to be believed, it just needs to be believed to be true. This is the general modus operandi of popular conservative thought today.
