That food certainly looks better than what I had for lunch! The cheese in my salad, I am sure, was some sort of "processed cheese food product". Have you ever seen that on a label and wondered exactly what you've just eaten?

I'll admit I LOVE cheese, but I could never put cheese before chocolate... or chocolate before cheese... Too different :-)
I also enjoy a good, mature, red wine, but sadly enough it gives me the migraine. And in combination with any of the above... well, let's say it's sometimes easier to live WITHOUT a head attached to you ;-)

I am celebrating, Amazon just emailed me to let me know an order has just been shipped AND I went to our local bookstore and got three books for $10. Not as great a deal as some people get elsewhere, but pretty darn good for here. AND the best part is...coming home to catalogue them in LT. Life is just good :-D

I've had my dinner, scoffed some cheese (Gruyere) and drank a glass of Merlot. Just checked my emails and I got a 15% off voucher from Borders. In the UK you get vouchers if you subscribe to their weekly emails.

Thank you Borders. Now your books are only 5% more expensive than Amazon.

Nice, darrow. Is there a Borders you can visit? Here we have them all over the place, but Amazon is online only. So, the shipping can cancel out any price savings. So, yeah, I do sneak off to Borders occasionally. I prefer Barnes & Noble, though.

I'm a Borders fan. Primarily, because they don't charge you to join their discount club and Barnes & Noble insists on a $25 fee. I've made quite a bit of use of my Borders discount card...I also like the weekly coupons they send.

#49 - I like Borders, but most of their coupons are for books I don't want. I really like when they have those big paperbacks for 'buy 2 get 1 free!' They aren't close enough that I can stop by regularly, I have to make a special trip there. If they were closer I'd be scouring their bargain racks more often.

I've almost abandoned the online bookstores not from Sweden... Sometimes only Amazon have what I'm looking for, but the shipping costs are hideous!
Mixed feelings - I discovered Amazon US by chance back when you couldn't even send your credit card details via the web - I had to send a fax in to parts ;-)
Then when they started the UK bransch I moved over there, as my shipments did not risk getting caught in the customs...
And now the price on books have fallen so much here that it's cheaper to order locally, even when shipping fees are included.
Also, my main haunt has the same owners as one of the big grocery store chains, and as I'm a member I now get points for books and groceries on the same account ;-)

Still, I visit the real bookstore quite often - I try to teach my son to appreciate books :-)

they do come with a remote so you can drive them at people er sorry particularly stubben spots. They're a bit tricky to steer though!

Borders 3for2. I have no problem normally finding 2 books that I'd want, the third ends up being something I've never heard of and generally not that good, so I seldom use this anymore. Then they have £3 off, which isn't in the 3 for 2 range and that's just annoying.

Fortunetly Manchester has a really big (by UK standards) Waterstones, its not the cheapest but it has a range of US imports and a good overall selection, so I tend to start there.

If I were to start on amazon I'd spend too much so I stay whay clear.

Borders - since I've joined the rewards program, at least once a month I get a random 20% off coupon for whatever...then there are the 30% off if you spend over so much random coupons. Also, if you spend more than $50 in a month (so easy to do) you get a personal shopping day 10% off coupon...so it works out pretty well. I know what you mean about the other coupons though - I don't really care much if Janet Evanovich (or fill in your least favorite author here) is 30% off! The 3 for 2 table gets me too, sometimes a good third book can be hard to locate!!

What a day...

A day off from work - a friend who lives in Larchmont, NY, was stopping by en route to a christening; we went to a "museum" (in reality, it's an Astrid Lindgren themed indoors amusement park) for kids, as we have kids the same age.
I can tell you I feel exhausted! Three moms with one 3 yr old each, and one 2 yr old... what was we thinking of?! Not one sec to talk like adults, only three kids careening all over. When we left we decided that next time we WILL arrange for us to meet without the kids...!

*takes a big swig from my pint*

The good thing was they have a HUGE childrens' bookstore, and we all got to buy some nice books to our kids.

Any minute now and I'll have calmed down enough to continue reading my book ;-)

I had to flee the roombas for awhile, but I'm back now.

(I'm in the southern US, watching lines of gigantic thunderstorms come my way. I might need something stiff here!)

Hobbittprincess - we had bad weather here in the South again. Tornados! Thank goodness no one has been hurt, but one of my students had alot of damage at home. It's my understanding that one of their cars ended up wrapped around a tree! YIKES!! We've never had this many tornados! I need to call a Weather Warden for help!
