e.g.

Sons and Lovers D.H. Lawrence

Lovers and other strangers Anthony Quinn

Strangers in the night Linda Howard

This puzzle is slightly different from "Book parlour", listing the book titles with a key word.

rolandperkins, you have to continue the game in the same thread

1. Nothing To Pay (Caradoc Evans)

2. Pay .................(Last Word) ( Author )

3 (Last Word)...................... ( Author )

5rolandperkins
Apr 15, 2010, 3:56 am

On #4:

How is it a game, if Iʻm the only one "continuing" it?

Does this mean no more and no less than 3
books per entry?

6rolandperkins
Apr 15, 2010, 4:01 am

1. Nothing to Pay (Caradoc Evans)

2. Pay the Devil (Jack Higgins)

3. Devil Water (Anya Seton)

71dragones
Apr 15, 2010, 5:13 am

#5. >>> It's not that you're the only one continuing the game, it's that one play consists of linking three book titles as you did in #6. And yes, it does mean that you need to post exactly three titles

1. Water for Elephants (Sara Gruen)
2. Elephants on the Edge: What Animals Teach Us about Humanity (G. A. Bradshaw)
3. Humanity's Extraterrestrial Origins (Arthur D. Horn)

8skoobdo
Apr 15, 2010, 6:40 am

Idragones, you linked the word, "humanity" to
"humanity's" . Same meaning.Different grammatically. Acceptable to your response.

9Carrotlady
Apr 15, 2010, 7:19 am

101dragones
Apr 15, 2010, 7:51 am

#8. Correct. I used the possessive form of the word, because it really doesn't have much difference in meaning. You could retitle the third book in my list as "The Extraterrestrial Origins of Humanity" without changing the meaning of that title. Finding the same form of a word used in the title of a different book isn't always easy.

#9. I don't see how your titles link to the previous play (see #7) A correct response would be to link to Origins in your first title.

12Carrotlady

oh I see now, i thought they were supposed to be 3 stand alone books....this thread could be very shortlived if someone leaves a stinker of a third title!
