Hi I'm looking for recommendations for books for girls age 12-14. I don't have kids but volunteered to provide books to 150 underprivileged girls attending YWCO camp this summer. I have no idea what they might read. Help!
If you have daughters in this age range, what do they LOVE to read? I want these books to really count.

I have a sister in that range who adores science fiction and fantasy. Some of the books I know she likes are the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer, various books by Nancy Farmer like The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm, and The Black Tattoo by Sam Enthoven. Hopefully this helps a little.

Well, Twilight, of course.
Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

Catherine called Birdy by Karen Cushman
Invitation to the Game by Monica Hughes
Eragon by Christopher Paolini

I would never have thought of Twilight. Haven't even seen the movie. I'll start looking for books!

I'm neither in that age group nor have contact with that age group. But, I can give a couple of suggestions that may fit. Midnighters by Scott Westerfeld, Running Out of Time by Haddix, Dragonsinger by Anne McCaffrey, Coraline by Neil Gaiman, Maximum Ride by James Patterson. Those all have female lead characters.
Guy leads that aren't overwhelmingly boy-centrically themed: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (some of the later books have some heavy themes though), The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.--I don't know how useful the series are to you.
You could find some classics too, though the only one I know is The Princess Bride by William Goldman

I just read The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot and enjoyed it.

I second a lot of the above, particularly the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Harry Potter, Twilight, Maximum Ride, Uglies, The Lightning Thief, Princess Diaries, and Stargirl. All of those are pretty popular, and the girls will probably want what's popular. Here are a few more books and series that might go over well with that age group:
The Clique series by Lisi Harrison
Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyer
Beauty, The Hero and the Crown, or nearly anything by Robin McKinley
Sucks to be Me by Kimberly Pauley
One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies by Sonya Sones
Graceling by Kristin Cashore
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson
Georgia Nicholson series by Louise Rennison

I have a niece that is in this range and loves to read. She really loved the Twilight series (to my disappointment) by Stephanie Meyers, Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Star Girl by Jerry Spinelli, Bridge To Terabithia by Katherine Paterson, The Percy Jackson & the Olympians series: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix, anything by Gordan Korman, and she just finished a book the other day that she loved called Waiting for Normal by Leslie Conner.
Hope this helps. ;-)

Thank you so much everybody; great information. I'm hitting the thrift stores this weekend to stock up. And I already have some of those titles.

Good to encourage them to read high quality books.

At that age, I dove joyously into Rosemary Sutcliff's YA novels of Roman Britain, starting with Eagle of the Ninth, and going on from there.
