Yesterday, the formatting of my Reviews page shows my reviews as a narrow column, and "In Sundry's library and reviewed by others" column is very, very wide, and requires a lot of horizontal scrolling to see all of it. Here's a screen capture of my Reviews page. I found another forum topic on this problem, Anyone else have a screwy Reviews page? but I wasn't sure if the problem has been reported as a bug.

This is my first time reporting a bug, so I'm not sure if I need to provide more information.

edited to fix my wonky link info

Browser information can be useful. I'm seeing your problem in IE7 but not Firefox.

As I think the other thread mentions, this can be caused by someone having a stupidly long word in a review, but that doesn't seem to apply here. Odd.

Thanks mart1n. My browser is Firefox 3.0.5.

Curiouser and curiouser. My FF is 3.5.9. Of course we should both be on 3.6 by now :-)

You're right! :D

I'm a techno-dinosaur, and I freely admit it. I follow the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of thought when it comes to techno-updating. When my browser stops working correctly, then I update it.

Even more interesting - I do see the problem, in FF3.6.3.

Yeah, I've seen it on a variety of browsers:
I'm using a Mac, using both FireFox 3.6.3 and Safari 5.0, on the Zeitgeist Reviews page the Hot Reviews becomes a narrow column and the Recent Firsts is spread out over the rest of the page. I double checked on my Windows laptop using IE6 and FF 3.6.3 and it looks the same

eta: My Reviews page is fine, I only have the problem on the Zeitgeist Reviews page. The discussion linked in the first message suggests it may all have one reviewer in common - shadowofthewind. But that may just be a coincidence.

I just checked, and my Zeitgeist Reviews page has the same problem. I don't know if it is related, but my view a book's main page is skewed now, too. Screen capture of a book's main page. The problem appears different from the Review pages, but I don't know if the appearance being misaligned is a coincidence, or a related issue.

This is FicusFan.

I haven't checked the Review or Zeiteist page, but have the same problem with the Book Page. For this account I am on Explorer 8.

Ack, I posted here to explain why the reviews page was probably messed up, but didn't see that the book page is a different kind of messed up. Just went from the first post.

So never mind that nonsense (I need to remember to investigate links better).

BUT. Regarding the reviews page:

Like I said in the other thread: the problem is with shadowofthewind's review, which does not allow the lines to break naturally when they reach the edge of the page/content block.

It's not necessarily a bug, unless the problem is on LT's side when the review was posted. Most likely, the review was composed in a different program, and when it was copy/pasted into the LT review box, the spaces were substituted with   ("non-breaking space"), which doesn't allow for natural line breaks like a normal space does (hence the name).

If your page is like this and it is NOT because of a review by shadowofthewind (and you can do ctrl+f and then type the name to see if it pops up - in FF, you can just do a / and start typing, that's the quick search) then there is something else going on, possibly another such review (or someone with a review like "Soooooooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooooooooooooood" with enough O's to stretch the page unnaturally).

I checked sundry's review page, and that is, indeed, what is doing it. (He has the same review by shadowofthewind that was in the other thread.)

Regarding the wonkiness in #8, that is because of the small window size and the way the sections on the bookpage were coded (possibly with div layers?) causing them to overlap rather than stretch the page horizontally. The bookpage is fine for me, but if I change the width of my browser, I get the same thing. That probably IS an unintended effect of the code.

Everything is as it should be, now. Review, and main book, pages. Hurray!
