Hi! today looking at may events I realised that the event « Aktion Brandt » (see de.Wikipedia - ger) is listed twice:

a: at Nebel im August
b: at Psychiatrie im Nationalsozialismus

I realised that one has one trailing space and the other two.

In the past I realised that leading space in a series field is not ignored. There might be similar situations related to other « Common Knowledge » fileds.
addition: urls starting whit a space in a series name should redirect automatically.

Suggestion: Neither leading nor trailing spaces (and other whitespace) should be stored. The input should be normalised.

Note: It makes sense to clean existing fields by stripping these characters.

Best regards Reinhardt

Thanks. I'll take a look at the code and see what's going on. We should be stripping out leading and trailing spaces.

>4 conceptDawg: Any news on this?

Should this request be included in "Bug Tracking" ?

Normalizing what the user enters is a request, really. There's already a bug in about the system adding a space when you edit a field: It is, of a sort: http://www.librarything.com/topic/99406

This should be fixed in new entries (unless I missed another place in the code where it was being inserted). Older entries have not been fixed.
