Preramble...
a) Rules will be posted in the first message of the thread.
b) Revisions to the rules will be generally agreed upon by whoever is actively playing the game at the time, and updated in this by whoever posted the first message (in this case, moi).
c) The person who posts the Challenge is heretoforafter known as the Challenger.
d) Everyone else is a Respondent.
e) "Weekend" begins 4 PM (LT-Time) on Friday afternoons (unless it's a holiday, in which case - Thursday afternoon), and ends 8 AM Monday morning (unless ~that~ is a holiday, so Tuesday, then).

Game Rules:
1) The Challenger must post as much of a set of contiguous lyrics as necessary to allow Respondents a reasonable chance of determining the name of the song. Finding them on a web site somewhere in order to ensure an accurate Challenge is okey dokey.
2) If the name of the song is in the lyrics , substitute (Song Title) in its place.
3) Any variation to what is required of the Respondent should be mentioned at this time.
4) It is considered Poor Sportsmanship for a Respondent to use the Internet Machine to search for the lyrics to a Challenge. A foxing of your most cherished books is still inadequate punishment to wish upon such ne'er-do-wells.
5) Unless otherwise specified, the Respondent is to answer with the title of the song, and the name of the original songwriter or band that recorded it. Other chit-chat is fine, but first things first, okay?
6) If only the Title, but not the Writer/Band is correct, the first Respondent with the correct Title "wins", under the discretion of the Challenger.
7) If there are no responses within 24 hours (48 on weekends), the Challenger may divulge the answer, and post another challenge.
8) If the Challenger has not acknowledged the first Respondent within 24 hours (48 on weekends, the MOST RECENT Respondent may declare the Challenge comatose and post a Challenge of his/her own.
9) If that person does not post a Challenge within 24 hours (48 on weekends), then the Respondent prior to the now-MIA Challenger may post a challenge.
10) NO ONE may start a second Challenge while one is outstanding, unless the thread has been dormant for an entire WEEK.

Hopefully this will be easy enough for you. I will be away for 1, possibly 2 days, so if you're absolutely sure, or if someone else verifies, have fun without me.

This is a verse from one of my favorite tunes to play on the guitar.

August '49, North Montana
The hottest day on record and the forest tinder dry
We'd have our backs to the river
We'd have it licked by morning even if we took it slow
But the fire crowned, jumped the valley just ahead
There was no way down, we headed for the ridge instead
Too big to fight it; we'd have to fight that slope instead
Flames one step behind above the {title-of-song}

3Boobalack

Sounds like an interesting story-song, but I have no idea what it is.

Good luck to somebody!

4krolik
Jul 23, 2010, 12:02 am

Whatever it is, it's probably an end rhyme with "instead" or "slow" or even maybe an earlier line, though probably not Montana, because what else can you do but "banana"?

Sorry for disappearing....

That's "Cold Missouri Waters" I think - no idea who sings it though.

6WholeHouseLibrary
Jul 23, 2010, 3:56 pm

Correct Annie.

It was written by James Keelaghan, a Canadian folk artist (and he's very good).

The version I am most familiar with was sung by Richard Shindell, backed up by Lucy Kaplansky and Dar Williams in a group they called Cry, Cry, Cry.

7Boobalack
Edited: Jul 23, 2010, 6:23 pm

I Googled the lyrics. Such a sad song. It could be made into a novel.

8WholeHouseLibrary
Jul 24, 2010, 6:43 pm

Indeed! In its 5 verses (of which the one I used in #2 was the second), it tells one hell of a story.

If AnnieMod doesn't post by this time tomorrow, this thread is up for anyone to begin a new challenge.

Alright then....

Was in the spring,
One summer's day.
Just when she left me,
She gone to stay.
Now she's gone.
An' I don't worry.
Lord, I'm {title-of-song}

10WholeHouseLibrary
Jul 27, 2010, 10:44 pm

No one?

Okay, here's the first verse:

One summer day, she went away
Gone and left me, she's gone to stay
She's gone but I don't worry
I'm {title-of-song}

Wow!

The Mystery Tune was: Sittin' on Top of the World

It a Blues number from 50 or more years ago, made popular by Cream, reincarnated several times (and as many variations) by Eric Clapton. Richard Shindell does a very nice cover of it on his latest album.

Onward to the next challenge...

There was old man Perkins sittin' on his stool
Watchin' Butch and Jimmy John talkin' loud and playing pool
The boys from Silver City were standin' by the fire
Singin' like they thought they were the Tabernacle choir

And I wanted you to see them all, I wished that you were there

It feels so good {title-of-song}

Gulp!

It was Feelin' Good Again by Robert Earl Keen.

Let's try another one....

Have I doubt when I'm alone?
Love is a ring on the telephone.
Love is an angel disguised as lust,
Love is a banquet on which we feed.
Here in our bed until the morning comes.

It was co-written by Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith.

19katelisim

Yay! Let's try this one:

The paranoia is in bloom, the PR
The transmissions will resume
They'll try to push drugs
Keep us all dumbed down and hope that
We will never see the truth around
(So come on!)

Another promise, another scene, another
A package not to keep us trapped in greed
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined
(So come on!)

20katelisim

No? That was Muse's Uprising. Hmm, let's try something a little older maybe?

Stalked in the forest too close to hide
I'll be upon you by the moonlight side
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo
High blood Drumming on your skin it's so tight
You feel my heat I'm just a moment behind
Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo

I'm surprised no one got this one, Hungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran. Hopefully we don't stall like this for everyone. . .

Maybe older again?

My folks were always putting him down (down, down)
They said he came from the wrong side of town

They told me he was bad
But I knew he was sad
That's why I fell for (Title of Song)

Go ahead and take it. It's been done by the Shangri-Las, Hilary Duff, Belle and Sebastian, in the movie Happy Feet, and funnily enough Twisted Sister.

26Boobalack
Aug 5, 2010, 7:48 pm

I suspect it was the Shangri-Las I used to hear doing it.

Try your best to see through the confusion.

If you don't know by now, then how should I?

"Love Gone By"
Dan Fogelberg

Here's an easier one. ;-) My favorite from this singer.

I can't believe
You could just turn and leave.
You did it so easily.
You pulled my world out from under me.
Look what you've done to me.

How could you end it this way
After the love that we made?
God how I wish you had stayed!
Can't you see that I just want you back?

Let the river rock you like a cradle
Climb to the treetops, child, if you're able
Let your hands tie a knot across the table
Come and touch the things you cannot feel
And close your fingertips and fly where I can't hold you
Let the sun-rain fall and let the dewy clouds enfold you
And maybe you can sing to me the words I just told you
If all the things you feel aint what they seem
THen don't mind me 'cause I aint nothing but a dream

This is about the saddest song I've ever heard. It should be easy to get, though. It kind of reminds me of my Mother and was popular about the time I was living in her house and taking care of her while she was dying. TMI? Sorry.

I wasn't there that morning
When my father passed away.
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say.

I think I caught his spirit
Later that same year.
I'm sure I caught his echo
In my baby's newborn tears.

It's not an easy song to play (correctly) on the guitar, too.

Try this one - it's the 4th of 6 verses:

And if I were like lightning, I wouldn't need no sneakers
I could come and go wherever I would please
And I'd scare 'em by the flagpole, and I'd scare 'em by the shade tree
But I would not scare my pony on my boat out on the sea

77Boobalack

78Jim53
Aug 20, 2010, 7:57 am

#76 my apologies. I apparently have you confused with some other, er, participant who was making cracks not long ago about running his car into a bridge.

I'm not sure how statements about not being able to stand something add to everyone's enjoyment.

The song in #71 was "Killer Joe."

79Boobalack
Aug 20, 2010, 6:29 pm

Aha! Now I remember. Easy to say, once the title has been given. lol

I think just expressing an opinion about one's likes and dislikes, while not actually adding to the enjoyment of the game, is interesting, much in the same way a book review is interesting, but if the consensus of opinion is that we no longer make these asides, then that's fine with me. I just like learning about music with which I am not familiar.

If nobody minds, I'll submit new lyrics to restart the game. :-)

If you go down to the woods today,
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go down to the woods today,
You better go in disguise.

That's Teddy Bear's Picnic, originally sang by Der Bingle*, I believe.
My favorite version of it is on the very first Nitty Gritty Dirt Band album.

No sense in waiting. Here's the first half of the first verse of a once-popular tune:

They do it down on camber sands, They do it at Waikiki
Lazing about the beach all day, All night the crickets creepy
Squinting faces at the sky, A Harold Robbins paperback
Surfers drop their boards and dry, And everybody wants a hat

* That's Bing Crosby for all you youngsters out there.

81WholeHouseLibrary

Okay, the rest of the verse (actually, it's the chorus...) is:

83WholeHouseLibrary
Aug 22, 2010, 8:25 pm

I really thought that was going to be easy...

It was: Pulling Mussels from the Shell by Squeeze.

Here's the last 3 verses of a much older tune. I know of 5 different singers who have covered this song, but no idea who actually wrote it:

Do not think about tomorrow
Let tomorrow come and go
Tonight you're in a nice warm boxcar
Safe from all the wind and snow

I know the police cause you trouble
They cause trouble everywhere
But when you die and go to heaven
You won't find no policemen there

I know your clothes are torn and ragged
And your hair is turning gray
Lift your head and smile at trouble
You'll find happiness someday

84Boobalack

I have no idea about that one, either. Gee, we don't have anywhere near the same taste in/knowledge of music, do we?

85katelisim

Oh, I'm still here. . . . just have no clue about any of these :(
My lyrical knowledge lies more in the modern and non-mainstream, which causes problems here. But I do know a lot of random older stuff too. Never heard of Manhattan Transfer. And don't listen to Bing Crosby or Clapton. . . I looked up Squeeze and recognized Cool for Cats, but that's it.

86WholeHouseLibrary
Aug 23, 2010, 12:33 am

Then here's some hints -

It was originally written by Goebel Reeves.

It's been covered by Pete Seeger, The Carter Family, The Kingston Trio, Woody Guthrie, Emmylou Harris, Jack Elliot, Joan Baez... and almost every one of them changed at least one set of lyrics.

The lyrics posted above are from Arlo Guthrie's cover of the tune, and is the closest to the original.

Oh! Thank goodness! I thought I was stuck in a musicological Twilight Zone episode!

Take it away, Boo.

BTW, I'm going to be helping MrsHouseLibrary at her Elem School library tomorrow, so don't expect me around until late in the afternoon.

That's okay. I don't get here until later in the day, either.

I still hear you saying,
"Dear one, hold me fast."
And I start in praying,
"Oh Lord, please let this last."
We seemed to float right through the air.
Heavenly songs seem to come from everywhere.

It doesn't matter whether or not we know the same music, we hit on one occasionally, and when we don't, we learn something new. So, please, folks, join in. Thanks.

Looks like nobody is going to guess "If You Leave Me Tonight I'll Cry" by Jerry Wallace.

Shall we try another set of lyrics? Okay, if you insist!

In a far-away land,
On the tropic sea sand,
If your hand's in my hand,
I won't be blue.
Way up on the mountain
Or way down in the valley,
I know I'll be happy
Anyplace, anywhere, I don't care.
(snip)

Any place is all right
Long as you are there.

This one should be easy.

Here in the after-glow of day
We keep our rendezvous beneath the blue.

I had to look this one up, so I can't give the answer.
I will, however, say that I was quite surprised by who wrote it.

I have one objection to it, though - one of the people mentioned was Gunga Din - the fictional title-character in a poem by Rudyard Kipling. Everyone else was an actual person.

And having seen the video (from that UT student), a picture of Mahatma Gandhi was substituted.

All righty then, since there is no answer in over 24 hours, based on Rule 7, I guess I'm supposed to divulge the answer and put up another challenge.

The answer to that last one, it's the 2nd stanza of the 2nd verse of "Slide" by the Goo Goo Dolls (1998)

For the next one (this one ought to be easier as it's a full verse, and a more recent song):

I feel like walking the world
Like walking the world
You can hear she's a beautiful girl

Yes, it is Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall.

It was interesting seeing the comments about the age difference. I'm kinda stuck in between, Generation X, mid-30s right now. I actually thought you would have gotten "Slide" by the Goo Goo Dolls (you'd have been about 10 at the time).

Hey, wadaminit! I am not a boy-band, bubble gum fan. As I said, my granddaughter, who is now 23 by the way, loved them and I listened to them a lot while visiting her and my daughter. I just happened to like the Backstreet Boys better than the wimpier one. lol

I like all kinds of music, actually, except for extremely heavy metal and twang-twang, including bluegrass. I like light opera, easy listening, some pop, some jazz, some C&W (so long as it is not twang-twang), rock 'n roll, blues, oldies (I mean really OLD oldies.), etc.

If a person likes music I don't like or doesn't like music that I do like, so be it. No biggie.

I may be slow, but even so,

I had forgotten that but don't remember a lot about the movie, anyway. It's been a while. ;-}

Once on a high and windy hill,
In the morning mist,
Two lovers kissed,
And the world stood still.
Then your fingers touched
My silent heart and taught it how to sing.

It's been over 24 hours, so the one above is
"Love Is a Many Splendored Thing"
by The Four Aces.

Next:

Nights alone -
Silent telephone -
The curtains on my window
Dark and drawn -
Sleepless dream -
It would almost seem
The nights would drive me crazy
Now you're gone, but…"

Somebody, please help! I'm tired of playing this game alone. :: pout, pout ::

The one above is
"That's the Easy Part"

Next:

Lonely as a desert breeze
I may wander where I please.
Yet I keep on longing
Just to rest a while -

Where a sweetheart's tender eyes
Take the place of sand and skies.
All the World forgotten
In one Woman's smile.

Jim53, you were so close, I declare that you got it. The title is "One Alone," as in "One alone, to be my own, I alone to know her caresses," and it does end with the line you provided. It's from "The Desert Song," and Mario Lanza did sing it. I'm so happy somebody in this thread knows Mario Lanza's music. It's been sung by about a gazillion artists.

Man! I'm on a roll!

Had to decide on the lyrics. I've loved this one since I was a teen.

Don't have to buy me diamonds and pearls
Champagne, sables or such.
I never cared much for diamonds and pearls
'cause honestly, honey, they just cost money.

Give me your hand when I've lost the way.
Give me a shoulder to cry on.
Whether the day is bright or gray,
Give me your heart to rely on.

I never heard of Bad Religion, and after looking at their web page, I can see why. lol I got tired of looking for that song by them, but I did find it by Orianthi. I'm pretty sure "Missing You" is the only correct title. "I ain't missing you (at all)" is just a line in the song.

Which goes to prove that it doesn't hurt to give something a chance. Then if you don't like it, all you've lost is a few minutes of time.

Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of it's own -
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone -
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half forgotten dream -
Or the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream.

This reminds me of a cloudy day, looking out the window at the airport, when we took my son to catch his flight to Germany, and an instrumental version of this was playing in the background. Sad day that was. Thank DOYC he made it back okay!

Don't know about the female artist thing, but the song remaining the same is the name of the rockumentary about LZ. As I recall, the last 45 minutes or so of the concert footage was primarily a study of Robert Plante's private parts.

Here we go! This one should be fairly easy. I don't think the guy who sang it had another big hit but don't know for sure.

Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We've known each other since we were nine or ten.
Together we climbed hills or trees,
Learned of love and ABC's,
Skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.

The Ramones did a cover of it, but (and I had to look this up), it was originally done by the Music Explosion - definitely one-hit-wonders.

Try these lyrics:

Won't say I love you, babe
Won't say I need you, babe
But I'm gonna' get you, babe
And I will not do you wrong
Living's mostly wasting time
And I waste my share of mine
But it never feels too good

We got the sky to talk about

OOOHHHH!!! You are SO CLOSE, Boo!

As a matter of fact, I'm going to turn it over to you (for 2 reasons).
1) I'm not going to be near a computer again until about this time tomorrow.
2) hmmm, I can't remember what #2 was!

The song is Nancy Griffin's signature piece - Love at the Five and Dime

Nanci Griffith is one of my sister's favorites. In fact, I may have heard that song. She mentioned on one of her albums purchasing "unnecessary plastic objects," and we really got a kick out of that, as we are always purchasing unnecessary plastic objects, such as cute little teeny-tiny bowls with covers, etc.

Let's try this one.
(Title), I'm feeling pretty lonesome.
I'd call you on the phone some,
But I don't have dime.

(Title), you're so far behind me.
Tomorrow is gonna find me
Further down the line.
Take a piece of paper,
A pencil in my hand,
I'm gonna write…

Since this was up over the weekend, I'm going to leave it until tonight before I change lyrics in the hope that somebody will name that tune!

Edited: Oct 18, 2010, 2:31 pm

Alright, I'm going out on a limb (probably sound like a complete fool), but since the title is in the song, I'm going to take a guess.

Since these lyrics just flat out "look old", and since I know very little pre-1980 music that outside the extremely popular (i.e. Beatles, Beach Boys, Monkees, etc.), and since the 2nd occurrance is in the middle of a sentence, and looks like it refers to a woman, and since "Baby" is too "modern" a reference, thinking about what men called women then, I'm going to say it's:

"Darling"

Who it's by. No clue. Probably a group with a male vocalist, so I'm going to guess that it's from the early days of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Probably way off, but nobody else has guessed.

278Boobalack
Oct 18, 2010, 3:15 pm

Brilliant powers of deduction you have!
The title is "Darlin'" but "Darling" does it.
Bonnie Raitt, but I can't remember the year -- I think some time after 1982.
Johhny Reid did it in 2007.
In case you'd like to hear the song.

Boobalack,

Having a degree in computer science, being a tournament chess player, and having done many other logical thinking exercises in my lifetime (i.e. Dell Math Puzzles and Logic Problems, figuring out Bridge Hand puzzles, Chess Problems of course, etc), probably all plays a part in my deductive reasoning skills. However, had the title not been in the given lyrics, I'd have had not a shot in the world. I see I was WAY off with artist (at least in my opinion, Bonnie Raitt sounds nothing like Tom Petty).

Anyway, guess you guys have the advantage now knowing that the next will be from 1980 or later (narrows it down to 30 years). I almost put in a song just to make someone swear on this site, but I won't be that evil, and so instead of Meredith Brooks' "B*tch", I'll give you this one. Should be easy.

Here we go:

"You know the lies they always told you
And the love you never knew
What's the things they never showed you
That swallowed the light from the sun
Inside your room"

280Boobalack

I had wondered if anyone would pick up on the "dime." You surely can't make a phone call for a dime these days. There's also an old song that mentions a 10-cent soda. lol

I was a computer programmer back in the day when we had punch cards, etc. FORTRAN IV with commercial subroutines was great fun. I loved it! Majored in mathematics, loved logic. I still have my books. Can't bear to discard them.

Goo Goo Dolls, but I have no idea of the song title.

Yes, it is Black Balloon by the Goo Goo Dolls.

Only time the title is mentioned in the song is the very first line. The lines given are of course the 2nd verse.

katelisim is next.

BTW girlfromshangrila, you were 13 hours late! That was 8:23pm last night, not 8:23am this morning.

I take it you must be like me, under 40 years of age, and don't know half the stuff they put on here unless it's got the song title in it an you can use deductive reasoning, or else it's a song your parents made you listen to again and again and again and again (Thank you Air Supply, Neil Diamond, Linda Ronstadt, and many other "easy listening" artists of the 70s and early 80s for 10 years of tortore riding in the car).

I'm surprised you never mentioned another fairly big classic from the 80's (I think, if not it's 70s, but one of those songs that "everyone" had heard) with reference to a dime.

Joan Jett - "I love rock-n-roll, put another dime in the jukebox baby, ..."

Now you're lucky if you get 1 play for 50 cents or 3 for a buck.

Here's a really recent one:

At a 9 to 5 pace
I wonder how bad that tastes

#283: You got me, ThrillerFan. I'm under 40 years old (actually, under 30, but not by much anyway). I've heard of some of the singers and bands mentioned above, but not the specific songs.
Usually, once the song is guessed, I go "Aaaaah, yes, right! Now I remember that band!"
And I love the Goo Goo Dolls, so I'm really bummed that I didn't even stand a chance at guessing the song. :-( Oh well.

Ok, I know this one (probably because they play it all the time on Mix XM22 and XM26 - The Pulse)

All American Rejects - Gives You Hell

When you see my face
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell
When you walk my way
I hope it gives you hell, I hope it gives you hell

Since I already know for a fact that this is the correct answer (that's how sure I am!), I'm going to go ahead and put the next one up.

Here we go:

What's up?
Tell me what to do, how to be, teach me
All you your rules from A to Z,
But I, I don't wantcha other girls to see
that you're messin' round with me

Should I boy
Tell me what I got is what ya want
Tell Tell me do I, I turn you on
I don't want no one judging me

Bad boy, huh? I'll show you bad boy. You remember those days of Britney Spears? Baby One More Time?

Now try to get that out of your head! LOL!

In case it hasn't done enough damage, I went ahead and looked up the lyrics...maybe this will get it to stick in your head:

I must confess that my loneliness
Is killing me now
Don't you know I still believe
That you will be here
And give me a sign
Hit me baby one more time

Next up - Mmmbop!

Yuck! Now I feel dirty, but at least I got your head cluttered with junk. Now you see what the real meaning of "bad boy" is! :-P

I see that you beat me to the Savage Garden song. I've always preferred "I Want You" over "Truly Madly Deeply". I find it funny how everyone asks "Is that the chic a cherry cola song?", like that's all they can remember from it!

And back to the song, I think we're a little stuck here, so I'll add some more lyric lines.

Did we fly to the moon too soon
did we squander the chance
in the rush of the race
the reason we chase is lost in romance
and still we try
to justify the waste
for a taste of man's greatest adventure

This song was a little before "my days", but even after fifteen odd years, it's stuck in my head.

Boobalack, are you saying you're a Britney Spears and Hansen fan?

This generation ain't the same as yours. There are artists out there that have your select few that are major fans (more typically 12-year old girls than 70-year old men), and the rest of the world makes fun of them, especially those that are corrupt, misfit parents that are always getting in trouble with the law (i.e. Britney Spears). Bubble gum music combined with arrest deserves to be made fun of.

Yeah, you have your other "bubblegum" artists, like Christina Aguleria, J-Lo, etc, but they don't have the problems that Britney has, hence why you don't hear people making wise crack jokes about them.

#302 That first line sounds sorta like a Billy Bragg song I remember hearing. I noticed it because he seemed to be making a point of riffing on phrases used in songs from sixty years earlier. But I don't think the rest of it fits. Never mind.

305girlfromshangrila
Oct 20, 2010, 10:17 am

Let's try again:

Do you know you made me die?

#302, you didn't step on anyone's toes. I was just thinking back to a previous incarnation of this thread where ThrillerFan posted a rather insulting diatribe about the music many of us, including his parents like. Also in this thread, a couple of people suggested that we keep it on the younger side, or something similar, I can't remember the exact words.

#303, I am not a man, I am a woman. I told you that previously. Please stop accusing me of liking "bubble gum" music and boy bands. Meat Loaf, Led Zep, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, etc. fit neither category. The point I'm trying to make is that all people do not like the same thing, and it's not cool to make fun of what other people do like. Maybe you like some music I don't care for and vice versa. Well, it doesn't hurt either one of us to just keep our mouths shut about the others likes. It might surprise you to know that we like some of the same things. Coldplay, Nickelback, et alii. So just please stop the condescending attitude. Thanks.

Damn. I forgot to mention that the above song is "Animal Instinct" by the Cranberries. I will admit that if it were not for my grandchildren, I would not know a lot of these songs you younger folks post.

I have free speech. I will use it. You may be a big fan of these celebrities, but I'll mention right now that each of the people listed below are idiots. Whether you are a fan of theirs or not, I could care less, they are all idiots:

- Britney Spears (Obvious reasons)
- Michael Vick (Any celebrity that gets arrested for illegal activity when they are making the money they are making is an absolute moron. They are set for life. Why screw it up like this?)
- OJ Simpson (Ditto to Vick)
- Lindsay Lohan (Ditto to Vick)
- John Daly (Anyone that has made 50 million plus in their lifetime that files bankruptcy because they don't know how to manage their money is a complete and utter moron. I make in the 5-digits per year, and I haven't filed for bankruptcy!)

313ThrillerFan

#312

If that's the case, then Boobalack is also violating the TOS. Don't just target me. Everyone is entitled to what is, in their opinion, good music and bad music. The fact that I am making fun of Britney Spears in 296 is no attack on any user on here. The first one pin-pointed toward another user is 301. If she, or any other user is going to finger-point at me, as far as I'm concerned, you've opened the door to get finger-pointed back at!

Therefore, WholeHouseLibrary, try attacking the perpetraitor instead, and that would be message 301, which I'm not the author of!

If you think a message like 296 doesn't belong on this site, then we might as well make it so you can only rate a book 5 stars, because rating a book 1 star is making just as bad a statement about an author as message 296 makes about Britney Spears. Therefore, since I give a particular book 1 star, I must be offending all fans of that book.

Opinions are opinions. GET OVER IT! Message 296 is an opinion. Message 301 is pointing fingers at another user. Go after the author of 301, not me!

AND ALSO - DISAGREEING WITH CONTENT IS NOT WARRANT TO FLAGGING!!! If you disagree that certain books, singers, actors, etc. are bad, you disagree, which you are accusing me of this because others, like Boobalack, "disagree"!

314Boobalack
Oct 21, 2010, 2:01 pm

I don't disagree with your right to not like some artists and music, I disagree with your making fun of music that I and others here do like. I would not lower myself to make fun of the music you and others like, whether or not I like it.

By the way, I'm not fond of any of those people you mentioned above.

Now, to sound like a kindergartner, YOU started it in the previous thread. N'ya, n'ya, n'ya, n'ya, n'ya!

Say whatever makes you happy from now on. You're only showing your inability to see another point of view besides your own.

Love and hugs.♥
