Is Leo Bebb a huckster or a prophet? When a rootless young artist from New York buys a ministerial license from Bebb, he decides that Bebb is evil and flies to Florida to research and expose him, but he learns that not everything is easily explained. This is a tantalizing book. Most of the scenes and characters are tawdry, but the whole is greater than its parts.
The author died this week, which both saddened me and gave me the chance to order and read this book, which I hadn’t read before (I’d read Godric and a few of his nonfiction/memoirs).

This book does not disappoint. Characters that stick with you, and both humor and grief. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
