Quotations |
Patrick: What is it with this chick? She got beer flavoured nipples? Bianca: You know, there's a difference between like and love. I mean, I like my Sketchers but I love my Prada backpack. Chastity: But I love my Sketchers. Bianca: That's because you don't have a Prada backpack. Chastity: Oh. Dr. Stratford: This morning I delivered a set of twins to a fifteen-year-old girl, and you know what she said to me? Bianca: "I'm a crack-whore who should have made my skeezy boyfriend wear a condom"? Dr. Stratford: Close...but no. She said, "I should have listened to my father." Bianca: She did not! Dr. Stratford: Well, that's what she would have said if she wasn't so doped up. Patrick: You may not be afraid of me but I'll bet you've thought of me naked, huh? Kat: Am I that transparent? I want you, I need you. Oh baby, oh baby. Dr. Stratford: Hello Katarina. Make anybody cry today? Kat: Sadly no, but it's only 4:30. Kat: Argh! What is it, Asshole Day? Ms. Perky: People perceive you as somewhat... Kat: Tempestuous? Ms. Perky: "Heinous bitch" is the term used most often. Chastity: Mr Stratford, it's just a party! Dr. Stratford: And hell is just a sauna. Patrick: You're right. She's still pissed. Michael: Sweet love, renew thy force! Patrick: Hey, man! Don't say shit like that to me. People can hear you. Cameron: Look. you embarrassed the girl. Sacrifice yourself on the alter of dignity and even the score. Michael: Listen. Don't say shit like that to him. People can hear you. Dr. Stratford: I've got news for you. I'm down, I've got the 411, and you are not going out and getting jiggy with some boy, I don't care how dope his ride is. Mamma didn't raise no fool. Kat: You can't just buy me a guitar every time you screw up, you know. Patrick: Yeah, I know. But then, you know, there's always drums and bass and maybe even one day a tambourine. Kat: I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car, I hate it when you stare. I hate your big, dumb combat boots and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick — It even makes me rhyme. I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh — Even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you're not around. And the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you — Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all. Patrick: Don't let anyone ever make you feel like you don't deserve what you want. Go for it.

Book description |
Meet Bianca Stratford, the most wanted sophomore at Padua High. She's sweet and pretty ant totally boy-crazy. Meet Cameron James and Joey Donner. They're both totally crazy for Bianca. Which one has her heart? Alas, neither.
For there's a hitch to the sitch: Bianca's dad, who decrees, "No way."
Translation: no dating - at least until Bianca's older sister starts going out.
Which means, pretty much, never.
Meet Kat Stratford. She's Bianca's surly, sarcastic sister. She hates everyone - especially the "unwashed miscreants" at Padua High. (Which pretty much covers all the boys!)
Except...for one. Maybe. Patrick Verona. He's a mystery - and just may be the answer to everyone's problems. Then again, maybe not.

2.5/4 (Okay).
The beginning is weird and silly enough to draw me in. The rest of the movie is pretty ordinary, though, with most of the comedic characters inexplicably disappearing. ( )
