I read the first book in this series, Devil On My Back, years ago and I was blown away by it. it was a library book in high school and it stuck in my mind for years until a couple of years back when I bought a paperback off eBay. I was also delighted to learn of the sequel, so I got that book too.
Boy howdy, I was all keyed up to enjoy this book and... um. I think this book could have stood out well on its own, with all references/ties to Arc One cut out. Devil On My Back plays very little into this, with the main focus on an entire cast of different characters. Again, this would have worked nicely as a stand-alone story and I did enjoy some parts of it and the idea of the Web.
I found the meshing of the two stories to feel somewhat show more awkward/forced, and underwhelming. show less
