LEVEL OF SENSUALITY: Code Words i.e. "his rigid erection", "thrust deep into her", Masturbation,

GENRE: Historical Romance Fiction

SETTING: 1802 London

SYNOPSIS: She has saved as much money as possible and plans to secret away to find her brother but the duke has plans to not only END HER SORROW but to have her as his.

WHAT I LIKED: His initial attraction towards her.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE: The book started out great until the tasteless sleepover.

3 stars. Started well but rescue from father's home and story went downhill. Became cheaply and incompletely written. ( )

This is an OK intro to Marvelle's upcoming series, but it didn't make me want to rush out and read the sequels (although I probably will, eventually). I like the mystery aspect, and the duke is pretty appealing, but I take off points for screwing up the heroine's title (a real pet peeve of mine). ( )

Good short story, I have never read anything by this author before I will look into some of her other books. I liked the interaction between the hero and the heroine. One love scene that was a little steamy. ( )

Now, this was a Novella that was great from the beginning to the end. It didn't lull or greg on. I adored the relationship between Leonard and Augustine. I am intrigued regarding the whereabouts of her brother, who has him and why. I will read this one again and I recommend it as a lite quick enjoyable read. ( )

I have high hopes that the first book in The Rumor series will be better than this prequel. It’s not that it was bad, it’s just that it could have been longer. There were parts of the story that felt rushed or summarized. I think a little more elaboration would have made for a good novella.

While I did expect more from this story, I also liked the plot. This is obviously leading into a series about the missing Nathaniel. I’m not sure how his sister and Leonard will fit into the following books, but this taste gave me enough assurance that Delilah Marvelle will write a pretty good historical series. I’m just hoping for a little more sexyness. We shall see!

Recommendation: I recommend this if you’ve already read the first book in the The Rumor series or if you just want a sneak peek of Marvelle’s writing. ( )

Epigraph
Dedication
First words
Lady Augustine Jane Ascott quietly seated herself on a stone bench hidden beneath a large oak in the beautifully tended and flowered garden, away from the fuss of the afternoon picnic festivities and the eyes of countless men and women she didn't care to know.
Quotations
Is there something you wante, Your Grace?  Aside from trying to play Samaritan to a woman sixteen years younger than yourself?
Simply know that should you need someone to confide in, send word at any time as to how I may assist, as I am genuinely worried about you.  Good day.
I vow to honor her, my lord.  I adore her and have been mindlessly pining for her ever since she and I met.
Yes.  So I suggest you get terminated.  Not  only would your mother appreciate it, but I would, too.
Your father claims you are mentally unstable due to the loss of your brother.
