At first I was a little skeptical of the Frou-Frou/Anna connection, but then I remembered Laura Marling say something similar in “Warrior”, so now I accept it.
I was actually quite impressed, actually.

I was surprised by the parallels between Anna and Levin.
[I’d thought of them as opposites, foils, you know, like Hamlet and Laertes, or something. “I’m Captain Extrovert!” “Well I’m Captain Introvert!” Actually this *opens the question* of whether the parallels argument is just us *being modern*, or center-left, or something. “Old Russia and New Russia; Pharisees and prodigals, ascetic and sensual—is it really different?”
