Description

Tyrant Ysanne Isard has seized control of Thyferra, intending to use its supply of medicinal bacta for a decidedly unhealthy purpose--to destabilize and annihilate the New Republic. Undermanned and without Alliance support, Rogue Squadron faces an overwhelmingly superior force--and nearly impossible task: to oppose Isard's plans, defeat her Star Destroyer fleet, and free Thyferra from the grip of a madman in a winner-take-all battle.

Rogue squadron goes rogue?! For various reasons the New Republic can’t go after the bad guys so the squad leaves the army and conducts a private war against the imperials. It’s nice to return to starship adventures after all the cloak and dagger and political maneuvering of the previous two novels.
Book #4 in the X-wing series. After Ysanne Isard abandons Coruscant, she flees to the bacta producing planet of Thyferra. In this book Wedge and Rogue Squadron quit the New Republic military to free lance a war to stop Ysanne Isard.

I enjoy the series and this book, but I think it is likely not my favorite of the series.
And so concludes this series concerning Rogue Squadron. This one wraps up the events from the previous books and details the end of the bacta war which came about because of the infection of Coruscant when the empire left it. Overall pretty good. This is the first time that I read the series although i tried starting it a couple of times since it came out in 1996. I have all the paperbacks that I bought when they first came out and I am glad I finally got around to reading them.
Rogue Squadron has to resign from the New Republic in order to pursue Isard and end her schemes once and for all. A whole lot of space battles ensue!

And with that, the Rogue series draws to a close, leaving me satisfied and feeling as though I could pilot my very own X-wing.
Whee, X-Wing! Corran was an unsuccessful Jedi, and he got married to Mirax, and awww, Booster! He got his ship! And Booster/Karrde! And Iella/Erisol (? What was her name? The resistance-y woman?) were all slashy.

Title: The Bacta War Series: X-Wing, Star Wars Author: Michael Stackpole Rating: 4 of 5 Stars Genre: SFF Pages: 350 Synopsis: Wedge, Coran and Co fight Isard and kill her in the end. Coran and Mirax get married and Mirax's dad, Booster Terrik, gets a hold of a Star Destroyer for his personal gad about the universe. My Thoughts: I really did enjoy this. It is just recently my show more desire to write reviews has plummeted, so I'm mailing these in and keeping track that I read them. " show less
