Beautiful Moon

When the illustrations are beautiful, and the story is also lovely, I smile and want to say to all "read this book!" "read it!"

This is a soft story, an exquisitely lovely story accompanied by wonderful illustrations. When a young boy forgets his prayers, he gets out of bed and gets on his knees. Asking God to please remember those in need, renders this child a special one.

There is soft beauty throughout!

Beautiful Moon is a short story about a little boy that prays for the overall well beings of the people around him. He prays for: people to have enough food at home, for the sick to get healthy, for wars to end, and for his teacher to read him a story every day, to name a few. I personally like this story because of the overall message it gives out to children. It's also good for exposing children to the concept of empathy which some of them might not have developed yet. Literary wise this book utilizes hints of rhyming occasionally. The text itself is simple enough for beginning readers to read. A good activity for kids would be to let them discuss what they would like to change about the world in a positive way. That way they can be show more exposed to other concepts like social reform and look at the world through a broader lens. show less

Beautiful moon is a moving book. Between the beautiful images of the night and the underlying meaning behind this story, this book is a good read. This story is told by the point of view of a child who is praying by his bedside, each person he prays for is brought in to the story and their prayers are also being told. Many of the people this child is praying for are much less fortunate, some homeless, some off at war, and some without food to eat. This story will give children more perspective of how many people live a life with far greater battles than we do, its important to be grateful of what you have.

I though was book was amazing. I think that the author did a great job discussing prayers and people's worries and hardships in a simple way. I thought the text was great for visualizing. On the first page the books starts by saying " The amber orb floats washing the night with a radiant glow". When I read that sentence i just pictured a great big beautiful moon. The words in this book were put together beautifully. The illustrations went well with each page topic. For example, when the boy was praying for wars to end, the illustrations and setting changed to " a distance land" with soldiers and guns. I think the overall topic of this book was praying and having a open heart for the people around us. Everyone is going through something show more and a little prayer is always welcomed. show less

He prays for the homeless people, for all the wars to end, for the sick to be healed, for people little and big to have the food they need, for his family, his pet and for his teacher to read a story every day. He promises that when tomorrow night comes he wont forget to pray. I think this is a good book for ages four and up. The illustrations are very beautiful and a lot of cool tone colors are used. I rated this book four stars because besides praying I was not really able to find the purpose the author intended for the reader to grasp.

This book focuses on the importance of children caring for other people and how they can help them. Teachers could show children the importance of kindness because you never know what someone may be going through in their life.
