This book was a good follow-up from the first Parrish Plessis novel (Nylon Angel). In this book, Parrish takes over her old boss’ turf, but is soon blackmailed into rescuing some kidnapped techno-shaman. Nearly getting herself killed in the process, Parrish manages to rescue (some of) them and witness the upheaval of “Dis”, an even worse-off area than the Tert Parrish lives in.

It was a good book, a quick read, but I’m not hanging on to the series. I don’t know if I’ll read the next book. Maybe if I run out of other things to read…

Parrish survived the Tert war, but now, in order to make good on her promise to the feral children, she's going to have to take over Jamon's territory and hold it against the 'goboys and any other street scum with ambitions. The Eskaalim hiding inside her wants out, and if that wasn't enough to occupy her, the Cabal Coomera Tribe has decided to let Parrish look for their missing shamans (with a generous two week deadline before they hunt her, instead). Loyl Daac is still around, still fascinating, and still very much bent on taking over and reestablishing his gens. It's a bit much to deal with, but Parrish isn't one to back down from a challenge or disappoint those who're depending on her. With a whole new crew to worry about, including show more a mangy, Borgia dograt, a Pet, and some genetically modified children, Parish has her hands full.

It's a fast, bloody, violent ride, and of course the conclusion leaves the door open for a sequel. Not the best place to join the rollercoaster that is Parrish's life, however. Do yourself a favor, and track down Nylon Angel first. show less

I read this one a couple years after the last one. Probably was a mistake; there were lots of tie-ins I didn't really get.

Plot: Meh. Eventually there was some semblance of a plot when the 'Cabol' decided to come in and clean up the crap in the jungle. Up until there it was just kinda weird.

Characters: Parrish is the only consistent character throughout the book. Most of the guys are just portrayed very oddly. She is fun; but insane not always in a 'neat-o' way.

Style: Tries too hard to be cyberpunk. Invents her own slang and the like. Confusing to follow along.
