I found this to be a pretty frustrating book. It could have been excellent and there's passages that are great; however the author chooses to walk the line between fiction and non-fiction and as a consequence it left me underwhelmed. On the positive side, it portrays the commercial fishing environment in New England in an interesting way through the eyes of a 'greenhorn'. Themes of foreign fishing vessels in local waters are also a nice subplot.
