This was not easy reading with very little knowledge of Robespiere. I would say get a good background in the events and background before tackling it. ( )

1323. Great Lives Observed: Robespierre, edited by George Rude (& Apr 1975) This is an edited book made up of some of Robespierre's speeches, accounts of him by contemporaries, and various views by various historians. It showed me good things about him I'd never have suspected after reading Loomis' Paris in the Terror, but I can only condemn him still. ( )
