Good selection of essays, if you want a more completionist collection the Everyman's Library edition is jam packed and cheap. This selection covers both his serious reflections on the Spanish Civil War and WWII, Hitler and choice words about communists, but also lighthearted essays about british food and the perfect way to drink tea.
Disappointing. Picture of a left-wing mind in and around WW2, hoping for a "revolution", peaceful of course. Refers all the time to "England" rather than "Britain" or "UK". Wonder where he thought he was when writing 1984 on Jura. The abiding vivid relevance of 1984 and even Animal Farm, seem a real contrast to this material very stuck in its own era.
