Sweet lord. This book. I have always believed in what I consider "magic" since I was a little girl. I cannot count the number of times that I "knew" people or places even though I'd never met them or been there before. I spent more time with therapists and "happy pills" than I could count. Until I finally just accepted it. This book felt like it was written just for me. It gave my magic loving heart something to hold on to.

From the first sentence to the last I was hooked. I don't know why I hadn't found this book before now. This connection, these characters, and this story was poignant and beautiful. It gave me hope. This is why I love to read.

I'm glad that the author changed their mind about Theo. I would have been show more devastated otherwise. The only reason it didn't get five stars was because I wanted the ending fleshed out a little more explaining their connection. To have the characters talk. To find out why the impossible happened especially with the surprise that shouldn't have happened.

Regardless, this is still an amazing book. Loved the snark, the humor, and all the emotions. More importantly, I loved that the author talked about the possibility that maybe there really is more than just one lifetime.

This was my first by J.T. Geissinger, which just means I have an entire backlist to catch up on! I adored this book. I went into it not knowing much, and I think everyone who reads it should do the same, but this book was emotional and full of angst and grief. But in the best possible way, that makes you keep turning the pages and staying up too late, ignoring the adulting to be done.
What is reincarnation? It is the rebirth of a soul in a new body. Do you believe it is possible?

It is a common belief by some cultures that reincarnation is real. They believe soulmates will always find their way back to each other even after death. Midnight Valentine by J. T Gessinger explores this theory. I will not be going into details about this as I believe this is a story that readers should experience for themselves. Poignant and beautifully written, Midnight Valentine will have an impact, which will have you thinking on this story for many days to come. This is a powerful story of loss, grief, hope and most of all a love that is not only true but also eternal. When you find a love like this, letting go is the hardest thing to show more do.

Megan Dunn has been in a state of grief and unhappiness for five years, ever since the tragic loss of the love of her life. All their plans for their future coming to an abrupt end. Her life would never be the same. To get a grip on her pain and to make sense of her despair she made a life changing decision, which involved relocating to a new town. Her plans to restore a rundown property she recently purchased was her strong motivator. However, on her arrival into Seaside, Oregon she encountered a hostile presence in the form of a brooding and moody but handsome stranger who seemed to hate her on sight. Therefore, you can imagine how surprised she was to discover he was the perfect candidate to do the renovations on her newly acquired asset. For Megan, Theo Valentine was not a man she wanted to do business with, but fate had other plans.

I love hanging out with Megan. Despite her sadness, she was no walkover. She was tough as nails and spirited. Her pain was real and I could relate to her grief and suffering. Listening to her speak was such fun.

“The other was from a guy who kept suggesting I’d be more comfortable having my husband deal with this kind of thing as if my vagina were a handicap to rational thinking,".

Theo is complex, and I understood Megan’s frustration in getting through to him. It was clear he had deep emotional and psychological issues. I would have love to be inside his head to see what made him tick. As the story was narrated from Megan’s POV, I never got to know Theo the way I would have loved to, as a result I never connected with him. It was not until the epilogue I got some semblance of his inner turmoil. Fortunately, this in no way prevented me from enjoying the story as Megan's narration allowed me to have an understanding of the events.

Ms. Gessinger has a way with words. She knows how to seduce her readers into believing the impossible. She grabbed my attention from the start and I had a hard time letting this one go. I had to know how everything would unfold. This book took me on an unbelievable journey and demonstrated the power of love and the possibility of second chances.

Conclusion/Recommendation

If you believe in the power of love then this story is for you. If you believe in a love that transcends time, then you need to read this book. Beautiful, heartbreaking and magical with a perfect ending.

Sooo, this book was supposed to be sweet and yes it did get a tad slow at some places. But oh my God did the ending disappoint. I mean this story is supposed to be sweet and romantic and all but boy was it painfully unfair to Theo. The entire unfolding of 5 years of misery to unexplained misery and... what should I call it? Possession by a demon, albeit a kind one, but to lose yourself and your personality completely after two coma-inducing accidents .... Not fair bro, not fair.
Pretty good for the OTT drama and angst lover. Raises hand. This is a story of undying love. Pretty satisfying. I had some thoughts I wish we had heard a bit more explanation of just how much of the hero was Cass and how much was Theo. Along that line I would have liked more thoughts from Megan on why she loved the Theo part of him. I liked the no talking thing but I would have liked a better reason for it.

I am going to check out what else this author has.
An unusual story.
Quite emotional in parts.
HEA.
