Everything I have made from this book has been mind-blowingly delicious. That may be because the amount of sugar and fat in most of these recipes reflects a certain lack of restraint. The cinnamon schnecken and bagels in particular are staples that I have made over and over again. If my kitchen was on fire and I could save one cookbook, this would be it (take that, Moosewood)!
This cookbook is organized by holidays, although there is a general introductory section on baking basics. The recipes are comprehensive - I challenge anyone familiar with Jewish food not to find what you are looking for. But the best aspect of the book is that the recipes are usually quite simple, and variations are offered when appropriate, as for Hamantaschen. Every recipe I have tried (and I hope to get to most of them eventually) have been easy, delicious, and a big hit with the family.
