Enjoyable and uncomplicated historical English mystery. I especially liked the upstairs/downstairs aspect -- it reminded me of the series Upstairs Downstairs, as well as Downton Abbey. ( )

I wasn't blown away by the story, but I do like the characters, and enjoyed the writing, and it was an above average, pleasant read. ( )

Really enjoying this series. McAdam asks Mrs Holloway's help in locating a missing nurse and children from the foundling hospital. McAdam's foster brother is now a vicar and is on the board there and has fallen for the nurse. This investigation takes them into the worst sections of London where Kat is chased and barely escapes; however, she refuses to give up on the search for the missing children. She enlists the help of Lady Cynthia, the artist, Miss Townsend, Tess and the little scullery maid, a former foundling.

We learn more about Daniel's past and I don't like who is his employer. I find the romantic storyline with Lady Cynthia and Mr. Thanos more interesting that Daniel and Kat. ( )

1882. Kat Holloway, cook at the home of Mrs Bywater, is introduced to Reverend Errol Fielding, foster brother of her friend Daniel McAdam. Fielding is on the Board of Governors of the Foundling Hospital in Brunswick Square. His attention has been draw by Nurse Nell Betts that three children have gone missing. He hopes that Kat will investigate but as her time is not her own she recruits her friends to help.
An interesting and enjoyable historical mystery, a well-written story with a varied cast of likeable characters, with a strong female lead. Another good addition to the series.
