( ) This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Review based on ARC.I love this beautiful numbers primer that honors a culture and provides a visual education to young readers about the same. The pictures are so well drawn and vibrant, and my son (4 now) and I both love going through and pointing out different things in the pictures and talking about them. He loves learning and he loves numbers, and this book provides an opportunity for both. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. We enjoyed this book, though some of the numbers are a bit challenging to spot on first glance. The artwork is colorful and lively. Our 10 month old infant was mesmerized by the colors and my older girls enjoyed practicing their Spanish whilst reading it. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. Day of the Dead a count and Find Primer does several things at once. It introduces Spanish terms to non-Spanish speakers or reinforces them for Spanish speakers, it is a counting book, and it is a find it book. Kids will have fun searching for the items that are listed in Spanish and English. The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is because the number 1 item is a comparsa or carnival-like celebration. The picture shows a parade of folks in masks. For kids who will be looking for one thing, it is hard to pin-point one item on that page as the celebration. Also on the page with the papel picado (tissue paper art), we began counting individual tissue papers, but you're supposed to count the strands as one item. That may be confusing. Otherwise, kids will enjoy looking for sugar skulls, candles, marigolds, pan de muertos, etc. They'll be immersed in the terms and bright illustrations that go along with Dia de los Muertos.I received a free preview copy from LibraryThing as an early reviewer. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. A beautifully crafted book with colorful, intricate illustrations. In the back of the book is additional information about the terminology used in the book. Older children will enjoy learning about this cultural celebration as well as the look-and-find aspect of the book. Younger children will enjoy the eye-catching pictures. The only thing I worry about is the possible introduction to the topic of death for younger children and those unfamiliar with Dia de los Muertos.Thank you to Gibbs Smith and LibraryThing for the advanced copy of this book!* *This did not affect my review or rating. no reviews | add a review
