In this novel of Lady Susanna Appleton, she becomes involved as a spy on a group of rebels against Queen Elizabeth I. She takes the place of an acquaintance who was murdered. In addition to rooting out the rebels, she is hoping to find who murdered the lady whose place she has taken. It has been a long time since I have read one of this series. I enjoyed visiting again with the characters...although it certainly wasn't my favorite book in the series. I am not sure if it was my mood or the long time between readings.
