An eye opening expose! I shook my head in disbelief/outrage throughout this book. I wanted to read this as I have seen Amy on TV. She goes right to the truth of all the corruption and media failures in this country. The lies and silence on issues this country faces- and not just with the Bush administration but in how the citizens are brainwashed by the government and it's friend the media. We are as bad as my view of Russia.
Amy Goodman is my hero. Exception to the Rulers is a damning expose of the corporate media establishment, oil corporations, and American politics. Amy sheds light on the way in which the United States becomes complicit in global horrors through weapons trades, oil exploitation, and the pursuit of corporate interests at the expense of human lives. Her most damning critiques are reserved for the media establishment, and journalists who refuse to ask difficult questions of those in power. Instead, the mainstream media publishes whatever the government feeds it, allowing the so-called independent press to become a tool for government propaganda. My only criticism would be that her tone gets a bit snarky at times, which probably discourages show more people who are not already convinced leftists from reading it. But it is an informative and important book, even if it is only being used by the choir. show less
I read this some time ago so don't recall details. It's a good, straightforward book, written clearly, with details.
