DCI Boyd starts a new job in Hastings after two years compassionate leave and a move from London. He has no time to adjust before being thrown into what looks like a horrific murder on an abandoned yacht, which his boss is determined to decide is immigrant smuggling related. Not convinced, in best crime fiction tradition, he goes off the books to investigate and finds himself in a heap of trouble. Some interesting characters, not least the author's spaniel rescue dog, which makes regular appearances. Promising start to a Hastings set series.
My Thoughts:
A very promising start to a new-to-me series!

I don't like Her Madge very much. But I guess there has to be one of those, eh?

The plot is not very straight forward, but not very twisty either. Just enough for a crime fiction to snag interest.

What I want to know is, what did the Russians left Boyd with?!...

I would like to see Ozzie take a more meaningful part in the story!

This is my second Aubrey Parsons series. The first one is DCI Harry Grimm series in which the first book is Grimm Up North by David J. Gatward. Love this book and this series! That is why I was so happy to discover another book/series that he is narrating! The sample of the audiobook got this book bought!

The audiobook is what sold this book to me!

A few things were a bit of a stretch, but overall it held my interest and seemed like a promising start to a series. I will continue on.
