I've read Lynette Eason before and usually enjoy her books. It was interesting to have a hostage negotiator as a main character and to get to see her work as well.

I listened to this as an audiobook. I was very confused as to who Felicity and Tommy were and how they related to the story until the end. ( )

What an exciting book! I was literally on tender hooks the entire time I was reading!! I thought I had it all figured out but the ending was a complete surprise!
I love how the author incorporated faith in God, hope and forgiveness! ( )

I was looking for an engaging audiobook — one that would immediately grab my attention and keep me listening. Crossfire by Lynette Eason, book 2 in the romantic suspense series Extreme Measures, did just that. From the opening I was swept up in the stories of Juliana Jameson and Clay Fox. Juliana is a hostage negotiator with the FBI, and her cases turn into something very personal. The action is non-stop and filled with twists and turns. I liked how the characters and this reader were kept off balance by the bad guys. The book was a puzzler! Themes include guilt, blame, and forgiveness. Some characters find healing; others are swept up in bitterness. While the experiences of the characters are extreme to say the least, the themes speak to the reader’s own views on what can be forgiven and what cannot, including in our own lives. Specific to the audiobook: the narrator’s voices and pace were spot on.

I was pleased with myself for being up-to-date on the Extreme Measures series, but just learned book 4 is in the works. Yay! Another great book to look forward to.

Recommended.

Audience: Adults.

Lynette Eason has done it again! Crossfire, Extreme Measures 2, definitely delivers on all counts. It is an action packed thriller. The plot revolves around characters who are believable and very likeable. I also love the fact the main character is a female law-enforcement officer. I have read many of Ms. Eason’s novels and I especially like the way she ties the books of her series together with characters – it’s always great to find a familiar character in a new book! I have come to expect great stories from this author – and look forward to her next one! [I got this book through LibraryThings’ Early Reviewer program.] ( )
