Description

I found out my husband of three years had cheated on me and his mistress is the one who told me-because he didn't have the balls to do it himself. I move out and get a new apartment, a job as a bartender, and try to move on with a broken heart. I wonder where it all went wrong, if I hadn't been enough for him, if I'd been stupid for marrying him in the first place. I'm at work one night when he walks inside-the most beautiful man I've ever seen. He sits at the bar and a forest fire burns show more between us. I was depressed the moment before he entered, but the second I look at his blue eyes, I forget the dumpster fire that my life has become. I invite him back to my place and it's the most passionate night of my life. I expect to never see him again. I just want him as an anti-depressant-but he wants me all to himself. I just got my heart ripped out of my chest so I want something easy and no-strings-attached, but he wants all the strings because he's hooked. I don't get much of a say in the matter, and that's not surprising when I learn why-because he's the Butcher. The crime lord of all crime lords, the boss that overshadows all of Paris, that makes everyone abide by his rules-or pay. And now I'm his. show less

I love a strong FMC like Fleur. She did not crumble under the pressure of her estranged husband begging her to come back. She stood her ground and got under a new guy. Fleur deserved the new attention that she gets from Bastien.

Speaking of Bastien. He is a man of not a lot of words. Yet, the ones that he does speak get me all hot and flustered. You could feel the instant attraction that Fleur and Bastien shared. It heated up even more in the bedroom.

I really enjoyed this book. It captured my attention and kept it throughout the whole story. A fast read for sure. I have found a new favorite man's name...Bastien.
I enjoyed the storyline—the romance between Bastien and Fleur and how strong she was to leave her husband, Adrien. But there were times I thought Fleur did not give Bastien enough credit. She was going through heartbreak and kept second-guessing everything. Overall, I loved the mafia aspect of it and the dark humor. I'm reading the second instalment, called The Carver, which is a continuation.
For the first half of this book I was bored AF - it did get better even though I feel like all she’s doing is complaining about her ex - but I still need to know what happens sooooo onto book 2.
Book one of trilogy. Good book, some parts were slow. The FMC was annoying at times. Not sure I’ll read the rest since they are not out yet
Bastien is so dangerous but so dreamy. i won’t lie, i giggled and kicked my feet through the entire thing
