Miranda goes to Mariposa, Colorado, for her sister, Juliet's, wedding, and also to offer support to her other sister, Desi, since Desi may be facing jail time soon for a murder she didn't commit. In a last-ditch effort to save Desi from prison, Miranda hires private investigator, James Marquez, to try to find the real killer. James is also in town for the upcoming 50K trail run through the mountains. The attraction between Miranda and James grows the more time they spend together.

This book failed to really grab me, and I never found myself caring much about the main characters. The book probably would have worked better as just a romance since the suspense/mystery aspect of the book was light and not very engaging. The investigation into Desi's case by Miranda and James never seemed as urgent as it should have been, considering there wasn't much time until Desi went to trial for murder. It seemed they found a lot of time for other things instead of focusing on the investigation. Also, more backstory from the first two books (Juliet's Law and Desi's Rescue) should have been included. Especially Desi's story, since this book didn't tell much about her or her case. The mystery was solved way too easily and pretty much solved itself. I did enjoy the setting of the story. The mountain town of Mariposa, Colorado, was described very vividly and added a nice atmosphere to the story. ( )
