A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh books so overshadow his other work that readers forget that he was a successful playwright and a longtime contributor to the British satirical magazine Punch. The short stories are amusing, and they rather reminded me of a more light-hearted version of Saki’s Clovis stories or a less-silly version of P.G. Wodehouse’s stories. Regardless, they hit the spot, and I wish I could find more of them. The Sunny Side makes you think of Milne as the Bright Young Thing he must have been, rather than Christopher Robin’s father. Highly recommended.
A collection of short stories and poems that Milne contributed to Punch. Includes a mix of titles written prior to the Great War, during, and afterwards.
My first foray into Milne's writing for adults, this was delightful way to spend a few hours. There's some similarities to Wodehouse in some of the writing, and even a century later many of the jokes remain thoroughly entertaining. And for once, poems I completely got - it helps most of them of were comic. Recommended if it sounds appealing.

A volume of short stories and poems by the author of Winnie-the-Pooh. The stories are clever and charming, exactly the way you would expect a polite gentleman of good breeding to write. They are comforting in that nothing upsetting happens and even the small difficulties turn out all right in the end. My favorites were the stories about the Great War, in which the author writes about his experiences on the Western Front, and a story about friendly competition at golf. However, all of the stories were enjoyable and sweet.
Another great short story collection for adults from AA Milne. not as good as Four Days Wonder.

A prolific writer, A. A. Milne published 35 plays, 6 novels, 3 books of verse, 3 collections of short stories, and several works of nonfiction, including sketches for Punch magazine, of which he was the assistant editor. Nevertheless, his fame rests on four books for children: two of whimsical stories about the stuffed animals in his son's bedroom show more (Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner) and two of verse (When We Were Very Young and Now We Are Six). All are considered classics and have been included among the Children's Literature Association's Touchstone books as the best in children's literature, on the Lewis Carroll Shelf list, and on the Choice magazine list of books for the academic library. He also wrote Toad of Toad Hall, a play based on Grahame's The Wind in the Willows, and Once upon a Time: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, both of which are sometimes included in volumes with the four classic works. Milne had a son, Christopher Robin, who served as the model for the little boy in his children's books. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
