Description

A skeleton is found in the Romney Marsh, dressed as a scarecrow. With the help of the Blind Beak, Rawlings discovers that the scarecrow was a French spymaster, come to England to awaken two spies. It is Rawlings' task to find out who the spies are.

Two years have passed and it is now 1757. John Rawlings has received a letter requesting his presence in Winchelsea. While there he becomes embroiled in spies and smugglers and in the discovery of a body.
An entertaining well-written historical mystery
