Got this as a freebie and was pleasantly surprised. Decent plot, fun characters, not predictable at all. I would have given it a higher rating if the "romance" hadn't been so ridiculous. It was almost like it was an afterthought. No chemistry, no buildup, nothing but wham-bam-thank-you-sir (sir instead of ma'am because ma'am was the aggressor in this case which also fell flat for me). Given that this was the first in a series, I'll give that "romance" a pass and see how I like the next one in the series.
clever plot with interesting methods of killing people- characters more than a little flat & formulaic. This is a first effort , though, so might try another

Epigraph*
