"Have You Seen My Duckling" is an adorable and fun book for young readers. The repetition of the phrase, "have you seen my duckling" is the first thing that I enjoy about this book. It allows readers to get involved because they can read along with the teacher as the mother duck approaches different pond residents. Next, I love the illustrations. As we can tell, the duck is viewable on each page but it's just hiding behind something. I think it would be a fun task for readers to try to find the duckling on every page. Finally, I enjoy the simplicity of the "big idea." It is to encourage adventure. The first page says, "to the little duckling in all of us." Overall, it's a really sweet story to read with young children!
This is a cute, delightful tale of a mother duck searching for one of her ducklings. It is a story of a duckling who seeks freedom, but only if he/she can keep mother in sight.

Have you seen my duckling?
This story is a great picture book the pictures are out standing. There are a lot of details a lot of ideas for topics to talk about. The story is about a family of ducks. One little duck wonders off never to far but far enough that the mother duck is looking for the little duck. She comes up on different animals and keeps asking them if they have seen her duck. The little duck is always close by, but can not be seen by the mother. Until the end then she finds the little duck and they swim off in a row. To me this story is a good story to talk about differences and not fitting in. the little duck could have felt different so he left to try to find himself. But when he realized that the others show more loved him and missed him he came back. It was a book with very few words. show less
This story is very interactive and has the audience participate by looking for the missing duck. Even though the missing duck was never lost, simply hidden in each picture. I like how this book also promotes reaching out or asking for help. Mother duck needed help finding her missing duck so she asked the other pond animals for help.
I would love to give this five stars, with its theme of the one duckling being the bold adventurer, the simple text, the counting, the hide'n'seek... but the birds are not drawn accurately!  Is it a bittern, or a heron; a grebe, or a merganser?
This is a story of few words but wonderful pictures. I really like that about the book. It said what needed to be said to keep the story going, but otherwise it just let you explore the pictures with your eyes. I also really liked that the one duckling that was lost could be seen in each picture hidden. I think that would be a great thing to use in the classroom with students to really get them to see the pictures.
A lovely, nicely illustrated book that encourages the listener (or reader) to find the baby duck that its mother is looking for. So, a sweet, feeling Where's Waldo!
