Mr Crisp has written a book full of powerful snippets. He isn’t telling us how to DO things properly, it’s not an etiquette manual. What he is telling us are suggestions on a way of living that is courteous and mindful of others. He has been on the receiving end of much that could have been better. It’s left me wanting to take a moment to think more, before saying the first thing that comes into my head.
This book is both highly relevant and wonderfully witty, and should NEVER have gone out of print! Quentin Crisp was one of Great Britain's national treasures -- no matter that each, in their own way, disavowed the other. Both gay and straight can learn much from this eccentric, original man who insisted on being both true to himself AND a delightful dinner guest. Contradictions galore! Get an out-of-print copy! Enjoy! Then save as a collector's edition.
