Andrew has a loose tooth. And it hurts. It hurts so much, he can't eat an apple. And all the grown-ups try absurdly improbable things to get the tooth out - pliers, pulling using his nose as leverage, tying the tooth to the car and driving away... I'll stop for a second and say I don't see how any child could be scared of that scene. The car FALLS APART instead of the tooth coming out! It's clearly not intended to be a realistic scenario.

Eventually, Andrew's friend calls in the tooth fairy. This is no pampered twinkletoes in a frilly dress. No, this is a fully-grown rocking biker chick with a leather jacket. Dude. How awesome is that??? But even with HER tools she can't get that tooth out. Luckily, Andrew's friend saves the day again - show more with pepper! Andrew sneezes that tooth all the way across town, giving us a great view of the tooth fairy catching it in a net at high speed.

I adore this book. I especially like the diversity of the cast - Andrew has an interracial family, and the people in the background when the tooth fairy catches the tooth come from a variety of ethnic groups. Unless your child is especially sensitive, I can't imagine they wouldn't like this book!

Andrew has a loose tooth, it hurts so bad that he can't even eat his apple. Andrew's mom and dad try and pull his tooth and they can't get it out. The dentists ties a knot to his tooth and a knot to his car and drives away to try and yank his tooth out but that still doesn't work. Even the tooth fairy could not pull his tooth. Finally Andrew's friend Louis saves the day by sprinkling pepper on Andrew which causes him to ACHOOOO! sneeze his tooth out.
I always loved reading this book as a kid, I enjoyed the funny pictures and all the different creative ways Andrew tried to loose his tooth. This would be a great book to read to students who are anxious to loose their loose tooth.
I love the humor behind this and how complimentary the illustrations are to the story itself.
This is about a boy who has a loose tooth and his parents try pulling it out. When his parents cant the dentist tries and so does the tooth fairy. The boy finally sneezes and the tooth flies out of his mouth.

This book was funny and the pictures made me smile. This is a book kids can relate to, it shows how the boy in the book is under the process of loosing his tooth.

This book is good to use for children who are in the age where there teeth might fall off. This book can give the children something to relate too and let them know that it happens to everyone and not to be afraid.
The message shows the process of a young child loosing a tooth. It relates to many children loosing their tooth for the first time for their nice big teeth coming in as they grow older. The book could be used in Kindergarten to show relevance to children their age loosing tooth and how the character reacts. Many children will be able to relate how scary it is and how much it hurts to loose a tooth.
Andrew has a loose tooth and everyone tries to pull it for him mom, dad, the dentist and the tooth fairy. It is his friend that saves the day and makes him sneeze his tooth out.
After reading this story to my students I would allow them time to go back and write about the time they lost their tooth and if they have not lost any teeth then to come up with a story talking about how they think they might loose their first tooth. Some of my students should be able to relate to the story and make connections which will make them more interested.
